Dierberg Three Saints and Top 100 Wine Tasting This Weekend! Friday 4:30 to 6:30 PM; Saturday 1 to 6

PM For our first tasting of 2011, we are going to have a blowout tasting! We are going to feature a few Wine Spectator Top 100 wines and we will be featuring a line which we have carried for a number of years called Dierberg and Three Saints from Dierberg. Jim Dierberg, When he has a passion for something, he acts quickly and decisively. Just ask his wife, Mary, to whom he proposed on their first date! It was love at first sight, yet again, when they laid eyes on the Star Lane Ranch, now planted to some 230 acres of vines. "We had looked around Napa and Bordeaux for a property early on," Jim recalls. But Napa and the Old World were getting a little crowded. "We wanted open space and big sky." They found it during a business trip not far from Santa Barbara in a beautiful valley called Happy Canyon. Bankers by profession, Jim and Mary are no newcomers to wine. They've owned one of America's oldest wineries, Hermannhof, since 1974. It's located in their home state of Missouri, where Jim was raised in a farming tradition. Here is our spectacular line up!: Elk Cove Pinot Gris from Willamette Valley! # 79 Top 100 with 90 Points! Dierberg's Three Saints Pinot Noir Dierberg's Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley Dierberg's Three Saints Cabernet Sauvignon, Two years ago made Top 100! Bodegas LAN Rioja Crianza '06 #44 Top 100 with 90 Points! Fetish "The Watcher" Shiraz, Borrossa Valley! #61 Top 100 with 91 Points! Bring a friend and enjoy one great tasting!

The 100 Point Rating System Remember! The Wine That is Best is the One You Like! Many have asked what the "numbers" mean on the wine write ups. Basically, wines rating are someone else opinion and should be view as such. Again, the best wine is the one you like! Use the rating system as a guideline. 96-100: equivalent to an A! An extraordinary wine of profound and complex character displaying all the attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase, and consume. 90 - 95: is equivalent to a A in school too! An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines. 80 - 89: is equivalent to a B in school! A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character

with no noticeable flaws. 70 - 79: represents a C, or average mark. An average wine with little distinction except that it is a soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine. 60 - 69:is a D or F! Actually anything below 70 an F! A below average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor, or possibly dirty aromas or flavors. 50 - 59: Don't even open it; let alone buy it! A wine deemed to be unacceptable.
