Billingshurst Parish Council Billingshurst Community & Conference Centre Roman Way, Billingshurst, RH14 9QW
Have you ever thought about becoming a Parish Councillor? The current Council’s four-year term ends in May 2019; if there are more than 15 candidates, an election will be held. If there are 15 or fewer, then the candidates will be considered to be duly elected, albeit unopposed! Being a Parish Councillor is a great way to give something back to your community, to help have a say on its future and to represent the views of local people. Meetings of the Council are held every other month, although there are various smaller Committees and Working Parties you can join depending on what particular interests you have, that deal with more detailed business. Although an unpaid role, the Council encourages Councillors to go on a variety of training courses to help them in their role, which the Council funds. If you would like to
find out more, the Parish Council will be having a stand at the Billingshurst Showcase event at the Billingshurst Centre on Saturday 23rd March 1.30-4.30pm. Councillors and Officers will be on hand to answer all your questions. If you can’t attend, then please contact the Clerk or any of the existing Councillors for an informal chat about what the role entails. If you decide to stand in May, you will need to contact Electoral Services at Horsham District Council to find out about the necessary forms to complete and deadlines.
Annual Parish Meeting of Electors
relating to the Parish. Don’t forget that this is YOUR Meeting, not a Council meeting! If you would like to join us please pop along to the Billingshurst Centre, Tuesday 16th April 7pm.
Each year we include a presentation on a matter which we hope will be of interest to residents, and this year is no exception. We are delighted to confirm that this year’s headline act will be the Executive Manager of Billingshurst Surgery, Mike Sandford-West. Mike will be able to tell you all about the surgery’s ambitions and take questions. There will of course be the usual report from the Council, but the rest of the meeting is yours so come along and ask any question
