Happy New Year! The Parish Council is delighted to have secured the centre page spread in Village Tweet from January and hope this will allow people to more easily find out news and information about our parish. If you have community events, meetings or fetes coming up, and you would like help with getting information about your event more widely publicised, please email liz@billingshurst.gov.uk or sarah@billingshurst.gov.uk and we will do what we can to help you advertise. Christmas Lighting in Billingshurst The Council has received many positive comments from residents delighted with the return of a Christmas tree on the Village Green. This has only been possible thanks to financial contributions from Southern Water & Riverdale Developments and the installation of a tree pit by Devine Homes. It is hoped that further sponsorship can be secured in the future to extend the lighting scheme further down the High Street.

Billingshurst Neighbourhood Plan Four lucky winners of £25 M&S Vouchers marked the completion of the latest stage in the process to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for Billingshurst. 130 responses were received to a consultation on the draft Vision & Objectives which were sent to every household in the parish, and every entry automatically went into a prize draw; thank you to all who responded. The results are now being evaluated, prior to the next stage which will see a series of workshops which should start to firm up ideas that could turn villagers’ aspirations into reality.

Vacancy for Litter Warden In January 2018, the Council will commence the

recruitment process for an additional Litter Warden for 20 hours per week to include Saturdays. The salary rate is £8.05 per hour and duties will include litter clearance from public areas, play areas and open spaces. Keep an eye on the Council’s website and noticeboards for more information on how to obtain a recruitment pack or in the meantime you can register your interest by emailing council@billingshurst.gov.uk

STOP PRESS… STOP PRESS A representative from NatWest Bank will be coming to our Council Meeting on the 10th January at 7pm to tell us how they plan to mitigate the effects of the closure of their branch in the village. We also hope to try to get someone from Lloyds Bank too. Do come along to listen and ask questions!
