Apple Valley Unified School District is a leader in the Alliance For Education, demonstrated by the ongoing expansion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) related academies and pathways. Partnering with local business and industry our students are preparing for their careers. Our High Schools offer multiple academies including: Medical Allied Health, Precision Machining and Design, Systems Control and Data Acquisition, Video Media and Broadcasting, and Computer Media. The High Schools offer strong Advanced Placement programs and highly successful AVID (Advancement Via

Apple Valley Unified has a premier K-12 Charter School, The Academy for Academic Excellence, sponsored by The Lewis Center for Educational Research. The Lewis Center provides hands-on instructional programs for elementary, middle and high school students throughout our local communities and the nation. Internationally recognized programs and projects include the partnership with NASA and JPL, to enable elementary through high school students around the country to operate a 34-meter radio telescope located in Goldstone, California, allowing students to carry out scientific projects and experiments over the Internet. Students from the Southern California region visit the Lewis Center for programs in archaeology, California Gold Rush history, and offer monthly observatory viewing at the optical observatory.
