Despite the vast majority of public comment showing strong opposition to the proposed cutback of bar hours, the Forest Park village council voted unanimously on May 12 to limit alcohol sales and consumption to an 11 p.m. closing time until June 15 for some establishments and until Sept. 6 for others. Late last year, Quinton “Danka” Beasley was cleared of all charges related to allegations that he had defrauded the village. In June 2019, Beasley was arrested and charged with a felony after Maywood Police officers executed a search warrant at his home and allegedly recovered $6,000 worth of Nike merchandise that was allegedly fraudulently charged to an account controlled by the village of Maywood, May-
wood Police Lt. Dennis Diaz said at the time. In a statement, police said Beasley was formally charged with “theft of over $10,000, less than $100,000, a class 2 felony.” At the time of his arrest, Beasley was operating his Danka’s Basketball League, an organization that offers structured amateur basketball competitions for young people and adults, out of the Maywood Multipurpose Building, 200 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood.
