Local biz sues big bank Sha-Poppin of Westchester files class action lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase over handling of PP funds By MICHAEL ROMAIN Editor

A Westchester business has filed a federal class action lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase, alleging that the giant bank unfairly prioritized large corporations over small businesses in the process of administering the first round of federal Paycheck Protection Program loans earlier this month. Stacey Hawkins-Armstrong, the owner and manager of Sha-Poppin Gourmet Popcorn, 10352 Roosevelt Rd. in Westchester, said that she has been a JP Morgan Chase client for well over 20 years and had already held a small business account with the lender at the time she applied for PPP funding. The funding, which included a $349 billion loan program for small businesses with fewer than 500 employees, was part of the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27. show that the number of COVID-19 tests administered, as well as the number of positive cases, in Proviso Township each rose at least 55 percent between April 23 and May 2.

The data also showed that Melrose Park has become the new COVID-19 hotspot in Proviso Township, replacing Bellwood. Melrose Park now has the highest number of
