Lake St. in Melrose Park, announced last month their intentions to close the nearly centuryold institution later this year, a bill filed recently in Springfield by area lawmakers could, at the very least, complicate the closing process. Wintrust Bank coming to Maywood

The company to open a Proviso Community Bank branch inside of Maywood Plaza By MICHAEL ROMAIN Editor

A new bank is expected to be up and running in Maywood by the summer. Proviso Community Bank, a branch of Wintrust Financial Corporation, recently signed a lease to move into a two units inside of Maywood Plaza, 1109-23 W. Madison St.

The move comes six years after Wintrust tried establishing a presence on the corner of 1st Ave. and Lake St. During an interview last week, Wintrust officials said that the bank will pay to overhaul the plaza’s façade and interior renovations to the building’s east side, where the bank will house a fullservice branch. The bank will lease at least 1,800-square-feet of space, Wintrust officials

said. Christopher J.
