The process of constructing a luxury townhome community on one of the last undeveloped parcels of land in Westchester is back on track following a Committee of the Whole meeting on March 9. A representative from Continental Properties, the Wisconsin-based developer, was at the March 9 meeting to present a revised proposal to build 180 townhome units at 2 Hickory Lane, on the northwest corner of Hickory Lane and 31st Street in Oak Brook. The area is home to the 80-acre Wolf Road Prairie Nature Preserve and the 43-acre Hickory Lane bufferlands. According to See WESTCHECSTER on page 12

per day to start, Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The site will be operated by the Cook County Department of Public Health and staffed by the Illinois Guard. Hoskins met at the site on March 18 with Village Administrator Tim Gillian, Police Chief Tom Aftanas, Fire Chief Phil Chiappetta and other village staff. Joining them was Bill Barnes, executive director of Cook County’s emergency management and regional security, and representatives from both FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security. Armed private security will be on duty around the clock.
Forest Park will provide a firefighter during hours of operation to ensure communications for emergency medical aid can be made promptly. Forest Park police will provide extra security. Although the village will pay for these personnel to staff and monitor the vaccine site, Hoskins said “county officials have strongly suggested that the village will be reimbursed for the cost.” Gillian said the site will be a convenient location for Forest Park residents to get vaccinated, though it doesn’t look like special preference will be given to residents in terms of scheduling.
