The village of Broadview is looking to take out a $6 million low-interest loan to pay for critical infrastructure repairs. The move comes after the village increased its water rates last November in order to shore up its water fund, which has been losing money for the last 10 years amid annual rate increases enacted by Chicago, which supplies water from Lake Michigan, and the Broadview-Westchester Joint Water Agency, which in turn supplies water to Broadview. On the village’s website, Maywood officials have notified the public that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is accepting applications for a firefighter

position. The applications are due March 4, but if a tense dispute between Maywood Mayor Edwenna Perkins and other village officials over the rules governing how police and fire commissioners are appointed isn’t resolved, that hiring process, along with other critical functions of the commission,
