Catholic parishes in Proviso Township to consolidate Cardinal Cupich’s ‘Renew My Church’ plan would close Bellwood’s St. Simeon by 2020 By MICHAEL ROMAIN Editor

In a statement released Jan. 18, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that as part of its Renew My Church initiative, four parishes in Proviso Township will be consolidated, with one facing closure within a year. In the statement, Archdiocese officials said that they’ve been meeting with parish leaders in what’s called the 290 Corridor “to discuss the future church, parish and school structures for their respective areas.”

Lindop student wins school spelling bee Amari Owens advances to compete in Western Springs

A student from Lindop Elementary School, 2400 S. 18th Ave. in Broadview, is on her way to the 9th Annual West 40 ISC Scripps Spelling Bee in Western Springs after winning her school-wide competition

on Jan. 18. The annual Lindop School Spelling Bee was divided into two sections, with one held for students in grades first through fourth. The winner of this round of competition, fourth-grader Kordae Walker, went on to compete in a second round against students in the fifth through eighth grades.
