It is a tremendous privilege for me to accept the choosing from our Board of Trustees to serve as the Chairman of the Village Club of Sands Point! I appreciate the confidence the Board has placed in me and am excited to assist in continuing the incredible expansion we have seen at the Club in 2018. First let me start with an incredible thank you to David Deutsch, our outgoing Chairman. David has led the club with a steady hand for many years. David, the club will miss your guidance and humor, but we know you will not go far. Your leadership especially in the past 24 months, has “teed” us up for incredible successes. A few years ago I, along with a few other members, were asked to join the Board to increase representation of our younger membership. We have worked tirelessly to expand new social programming. Just last month, over 100 members in their thirties and forties joined for an incredible Halloween Party. And for the last two years, I have served as the Food and Beverage Chair and have worked closely with Chef Jack to increase dependability in both quality and service at the Grille. The proof, I believe, is in the pudding… and the steak sandwich with caramelized onions. We plan to develop further develop communication and forums. So where do we go from here? To paraphrase an old commercial, “This is not your Father’s Village Club!” Well, this is my Father’s Village Club. And my Mother’s. As one of so many in our town which have grown up in 11050 and heeded the call to return. I have had the privilege to see the Club flourish for many, many years. We provide a challenging, yet enjoyable golf course for many who have supported us for more than two decades. And while golf numbers have been hurting in other clubs, we have seen an incredible uptick in 2018. Over 60 new golfers have signed up this past year, including many young members, who are new to town. Their energy and enthusiasm will continue to grow as they explore all aspects of the club with their young growing families. I plan to work with management and our Golf Committee to ensure that our new superintendent has all the tools, equipment, and chemicals necessary to sustain our course at the high level that it should remain. Also, we will continue to develop enjoyable programs for our golf members of all ages and try to encourage social golf opportunities to intermingle our more seasoned members with our newer members. The younger members are taking advantage of our tennis program as we see new players added to the teams all the time. Our racquet program has exploded with one of the best paddle programs on Long Island. Our facilities are truly second to none. 1|Page

But the real gateway to our club is our sparkling, new pool facility. For so many, the pool membership serves as the entry point for families with not enough time for golf or tennis, but the desire to meet new friends and enjoy a comfortable swim facility while enjoying top food and beverages in our new Pool House. These members will upgrade to racquets and golf shortly! The number of times one may use the club is just astounding. On a summer weekend, I might find myself enjoying golf on a Friday morning and finishing with a Cobb salad at the Grille for lunch. I’ll be back in a jiffy with my daughter for her golf clinic in the afternoon and I stop by the Pool on Saturday and returning Saturday evening for cocktails in the Garden with my wife. Oh, and, of course my favorite, caddying for my son in our Jr. PGA Golf League on Sunday late afternoon. Whether you’ve been a member for years or are just getting your feet wet, please join us and bring a friend! There’s so much to enjoy. Make the Village Club of Sands Point the center of your family’s social life. If we have not yet had the chance to meet, please come by and say hello if you see me around! In the meanwhile, if you’d like to reach out to me to share your thoughts, please feel free to do so at Matt Engel Chairman

GOLF UPDATE The 2018 golf season is winding down. What a great season it has been! We had record turnouts for several golf events; we were up over 10% in golf rounds and had a record 12 hole-inones this season! All this with less than ideal weather conditions. Some of the highlights include: 1. Over 50 Men participating in the Thursday Night League (between the regulars and subs). 2. Record turnout for the Babe Charity Tournament (and a record donation!) 3. Great turnout for the Men’s Senior CC, Husband/Wife (Significant Other) Championship, Mayor’s Cup, Men’s & Women’s Member-Guest, Club Championships and three Nine & Dines. 4. Fantastic support for our Tuesday Women’s League, our Friday & Saturday morning Clinics and Spring/Fall Junior Clinics. 5. Rich Kelly, PGA and Brittany Ferrante did a great job promoting Junior Golf with Rich implementing the PGA Jr. League and Jr. Interclub matches. Brittany spearheaded the first “You Go Girl” Golf camp, which was a great success. Let’s hope for a great November/December weather-wise, so we can extend the Golf season a little further! Thanks to all for your support! Karl Obermeyer, PGA Director of Golf

FOOD AND BEVERAGE UPDATE CHEF’S CORNER The colder days of Autumn are finally here and have brought with them many changes at the Grille. We introduced our Fall-Winter menu last week and have been receiving some great feedback. Everyone seems to be excited about the new food items and the different presentations. We will continue to offer our seasonal fresh fish specials during both lunch and dinner service. On behalf of the VCSP culinary team, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the Food and Beverage program throughout this year at the Grille Restaurant, the Mansion, and our new Pool Café. Eat, drink and be merry. Shown, is one of our new menu items, a delicious Tuna Tartare. It is served with a sriracha soy sauce and a crispy wonton to go on the side. We recommend pairing this appetizer with a lovely Pinot Grigio. Bon Appetit, Chef Jack
