Will You be the Ultimate Survivor? By Kelly Strand

Over its 36 seasons, the hit television reality competition “Survivor” has visited exotic locales including Thailand, Nicaragua, and Fiji (and yes, there has been 36 seasons and 540 episodes of the show since 2000!). There has never been a competition set in the sweltering desert of northwest Peoria…until now! We are bringing the competition to outwit, outplay, and outlast to the community with a special, Australian-themed “Survivor: Down Under” from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, on the Mountain Vista Club Event Lawn. Get your team of four together to compete in obstacle courses, mazes, puzzles, and trivia. In the spirit of the show, you’ll want to make sure to have a team member with a strong stomach to handle any food competitions that may come, too! If you’re able to outplay and outlast the rest of the teams, you’ll go home with special prizes! The winning team will receive tickets to Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde where you’ll meet lions and tigers and bears and many more furry friends. Due to the nature of the challenges, children under the age of six are not advised to participate in this event, but spectators of all ages are welcome and encouraged to be on the Event Lawn to take in all the action!
