HIGH IN THE SIERRA, THERE WAS ABUNDANT SNOW AND PERFECT MOUNTAINS. AND THEN, CAME A VISION.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ................. A heart-driven vision to build a resort dedicated to the fledgling sport of alpine skiing with unlimited potential. A seemingly whimsical proposition, the belief was that anything that feels so right must be. What is known today as Sugar Bowl, the oldest and longest running ski resort on the West

Coast, is very right indeed. In 1938, Bill Klein and HannĂŠs Schroll arranged the purchase of the original Sugar Bowl acreage for $7,000. Seeing great potential as a vacation destination, Sugar Bowl has been selling legacy homesites to fund resort improvements for over seventy years.

THE PIONEER SPIRIT HAS WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND THIS PLACE.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ................ It is no coincidence that Sugar Bowl, the dream of pioneering sportsmen, was built on the California wagon route of the 1800s. Rather, it is fate. For pioneering is what we’ve known, and what we’ve been about for over seventy years. From California’s first ever chair lift to Snowball Specials aboard Southern Pacific Railroad; from the Silver Belt races of the 1940s to today’s sought-after ski team; from our snowbound village to Summit

Crossing, Sugar Bowl’s pioneer status is stronger than ever. Sugar Bowl built California’s first chair lift, and added a second in 1950. In 1952, The Magic Carpet became the nation’s first aerial tramway. As we have blazed new trails, five high-speed quads have been added over the years, delivering the shortest lift lines and most time on the hill of any Tahoe resort.

INSIDE OUR SNOWBOUND VILLAGE, ADVENTURE AND SECURITY HAVE CLAIMED DUAL CITIZENSHIP.

. . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ................. Shortly after the lifts close for the day, the warmth and charm of a traditional Saturday Evening Post cover magically come to life. friends share the day’s escapades by the fire, cocoa in hand. Since 1965, Sugar Bowl’s Tyrolean Nights has recreated the music, dance and merriment of an authentic Austrian Alps dance hall. Exclusive homeowner events like this bring the Village family together and prove that the fun doesn’t stop when the lifts close.
