springtime is a must to many believers. Located on the limestone rocks of Huong Son Mountain in beautiful and mystical surroundings, the pagodas are 70 km or two-hour driving out of Hanoi. Unlike other temples in Vietnam, the only way to reach this sanctuary is boating along a narrow but extremely poetic stream by rowing boats that takes 45 minutes. An iron boat can carry 3-5 people and a large wooden boat up to 20 locals. The stream is edged by rice, grass, small paths, and temples here and there. Departing Hanoi at 08.00 we have a two hour drive through the picturesque countryside and back roads to the village of Duc for some refreshments before boarding our boats for a 1.5 hour ride along the scenic Yen river, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs. After this we walk to the Thien Tru Pagoda (Heaven's Kitchen) and the Perfume Cave and Pagoda – approximately an hour walk. On our way back we visit Giai Oan and Tuyet Son Pagodas. Lunch will be at one of the little food stalls near Thien Tru Pagoda. After lunch the boat will take us back to our bus for the drive back to Hanoi. We arrive in Hanoi around 18.00 pm. (B, L)

HOCHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNELS AM: 8AM Leaving Saigon we drive through pleasant countryside before arriving at Cu Chi. Before entering the tunnels we watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. We then drive back to Ho Chi Minh City arriving at approximately 1pm. We are transfer to Pho 24 for some traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. PM: We start by looking at the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office. Then, we move on to see the Reunification Palace. •

The Reunification Palace: This is one of the most

important buildings in the city. Here on April 30 th 1975 the ‘American War’ officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. •

War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.

After that we drive to Ben thanh market: •

Ben Thanh Market: This bustling market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to its central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dais.

The tour day finishes at approximately 6pm when you will be transferred back to your hotel. (you have the option of staying on at Ben Thanh market and make your own way back to hotel) (B, L) Day 13 Include: Private car Hotel Tour Guide Entrance fees Meals as noted

HO CHI MINH CITY – MEKONG DELTA The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The Delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels. Boating along these canals and visiting the floating markets always proves to be a fascinating and rewarding experience for all visitors. Start at 8AM in the morning for our drive to Cai Be, where we board our private boat for a cruise through the busy Cai Be floating market. Visit a local house boat & chat with family member to know their daily life. We then visit some local cottage industries such as the coconut candy workshop, learn how to make pop-rice, or witnessing the process of making rice paper. Continue with our cruise through the maze of canals the

criss-cross the An Binh Island, we land at an ancient house. Here we taste the fresh tropical fruits of the Delta and have lunch with local cuisines. After lunch, take a short row on local sampan, then get back on motor boat to the Nursery Garden of Mr Tam Ho. Continue cruising to visit the Brick & pottery kiln then to Vinh Long town. Drive back from Vinh Long town to Ho Chi Minh.Arrive back Ho Chi Minh in late afternoon. (B, L) Day 14 Include: Hotel
