My role was to work with the Principals to devlop a series of plans and sketches to show the client what we could do with their house. I produced a variety of options on AutoCAD as well as a model and set of renders on SketchUp. Since we were working on a short timeframe, I developed a quick series of hand-sketches to show my intended render perspectives. They were modelled, rendered and fine tuned over the weekend. The office won the project.

The client of 10_R wanted to take their existing bungalow and make it accomodate their extended family of twenty during reunions. They were also interested in opening up the social spaces of the kitchen, living, lounge and dining areas to each other. nkA’s proposal coagulated the program on the lower floor, allowing for a flexible use of the space for 2-20 occupants.

Oakville Residence - Entrance Lobby Hicks Partners

Programs Used: AutoCAD, SketchUp This key space in an Oakville Residence required a 3D model as the elliptical plan caused some complex detailing conditions. My role was to draft in AutoCAD the elevations and the plans from a series of sketches. I ensured all relevant dimsions required for the tradesmen were added. I then created the 3D model in SketchUp. Programs Used: AutoCAD, SketchUp The relocation of the Hicks Partners office called for a renovation of a generic office building into a modern open plan studio space. The extent of the renovations included new facades, a remodelling of the atrium, installation of skylights as well as a complete interior refinishing. My role was to create 3D mockups of interior and exterior spaces in SketchUp to help the Partners compare options.

One of my tasks was to create Sketchup models from CAD plans and elevations to help show the client their dream home. This often gave the client reassurance as they could more easily understand and relate to their project.

A local pet supply / service company was looking to branch out by offering their clients dog washing services. The prompt asked for a bright, welcoming, familyfriendly space which was fun but also space-efficient. My role was to take a schematic drawing and tranform it into a series of renders for the client to present to potential investors.

Avenue Architecture

Avenue Architecture was retained by Harvey’s Canada to renovate an existing branch into a corporate training centre. The project was to be a more upscale offering by the Harvey’s brand as part of a long-term image rebranding. We worked with a design firm, Scalena & Associates and prepared all the tender and construction drawings.

My responsibilities for this New York Fries project consisted of interior and exterior elevations as well as the equipment plan. Equipment layout for the kitchen required a strong attention to detail - coordination between kitchen equipment suppliers, mechanical engineers and the NYF design team needed to be maintained throughout the project.

A Zoo for Diving Birds Studio Project

A proposed collection of highly artificial habitats for deep-sea diving birds built on reclaimed land in Toronto. The volumetric exhibits are based on length and depths of average dives of different species of birds. These volumes are then arranged to create a single, cavernous exhibit which gives visitors a visual scale of how deep the birds actually dive.

Competition: Steel Structures Education Foundation Studio Project

The Terminus Event Pavilion sits on the edge of a pier on Downtown Toronto and takes its design cue from the tall ships which pass by every summer. The event space is divided into two - an upper deck used for holding large gatherings as well as a lower deck which is designed to be a restaurant. These dining spaces are seperated by exaggerated hull sections, which are influenced by commercial vessel hull components.
