Position: Victoria West Community Centre Administrative Assistant/ Project Development Coordinator Salary range/ Hours of work: $13 per hour, 4% in lieu of vacation pay, 30 hours per week for 10 weeks, some weekend, evening and early morning work responsibilities. Responsible/ Reports to: Victoria West Community Centre Manager Start Date: May 2013 Summary of Position: Provide administrative support to the Victoria West Community Centre Manager including but not limited to, providing customer service to Community Centre users, program registration services using the CLASS registration system, general supervision of the Centre during program operation, and other administrative duties as assigned. As the Project Development Coordinator, develop and implement a project that benefits local community. Position is dependent on funding by the Canada Summer Jobs program. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative      

Provide high quality customer service Program registration and processing utilizing the CLASS registration system Promotions and communication as outlined by the manager Research on industry funding, program initiatives and partnership potential Observe the policy, procedures and practices of the Victoria West Community Association May be assigned other duties as required by the Community Centre Manager

Project Development  Assess community needs in determining project  Develop project goals and objectives  Research funding opportunities and apply for grants were applicable  Develop and maintain project budget  Create promotion plan and material for project  Plan, design and implement project  Evaluates project  Create project report or template to be used by centre in subsequent years. Certifications:  Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR Level C

Requirements:  Between 15 and 30 years of age  Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Excellent customer service and public relations skills  Computer Skills including MS Office, Internet Applications, basic accounting skills  Well organized and able to prioritize work  Ability to maintain accurate records  Maintains effective working relationships with staff and community members  Works well independently  Police Information Check  Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Education and Experience:  Currently a full time student, obtaining a Degree/Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Education or equivalent combination of education and experience  Minimum one year of customer service related experience , preferably in a recreation setting Working Conditions  Open work space, noisy public access point  Regular interruptions by co-workers, program participants, public  Multiple competing tasks, limited resources
