MULTIFUNCTIONAL + MULTI-PURPOSE LIVING UNIT
The brief was to design a sustainable, easily assembled living unit for a chosen cause scenario. Inspiration was taken from the multiple disasters that have hit Japan in the past few years, leaving many homeless and in uncomfortable situations. The unit is created with the purpose to create small living spaces within a large enclosed environment. Materials used are locally sourced, the production process is fast and the product is durable, and can also be used in varied environments due to its flexible design composition.
DISASTER RELIEF SHELTER
Initially this project was inspired by the large amounts of disasters that have been accruing worldwide. I went into analysing current disaster relief shelters understanding what works and what doesn’t, my proposal was a temporary fix that could also be turned into a more permanent structure with additional local material reinforcement. The materiality used is all sustainable and has biodegradable aspects.
Concept design for a lobby area, gym and pool-spa zone. The client wanted a very elegant and luxurious feel to the space. The proposal includes large quantities of marble tile look and beautiful brass detailing and finishes. The gym area was proposed in a similar manner, incorporating metal wall panels, wood and leather equipment.
