General: Wedgefield is a country club community located in Orange County, Florida 24 miles east of downtown Orlando. It is accessible from State Road 520 which connects to State Road 50 to the Northwest and the Beeline Expressway (State Road 528) to the Atlantic Ocean and Cocoa Beach to the Southeast. The community encompasses over 6,000 acres of land, ranging in elevation from 67 to 70 feet above sea level. It includes several sparkling, freshwater lakes and an abundance of wide open spaces with picturesque stands of pine, palmetto, gallberry, oak and huckleberry trees. Portions of the community also front on the Econlockhatchee River. The community has been comprehensively master planned in advance, with areas designated for residential, recreational and commercial use. Recreational Facilities: Wedgefield Golf and Country Club: The 18 hole, championship 6,703 yard Wedgefield Golf and Country Club course is the site of the annual TPA (Tournament Players Association) Championship Tournament. Orlando is also served by three smaller airports for private and executive aircraft. Rail: Amtrack provides passenger service to Winter Park, 25.5 miles west of Wedgefield. The Seaboard Coastline Railroad provides freight service. Bus: Charter, express and passenger service to Orlando is provided by Greyhound, Trailways, Grey Line and Superior.
