Prep basketball Natchez High volunteer arrested for sexual battery NATCHEZ — A former school district employee who was a volunteer for the Natchez High School girls basketball team has been charged with sexual battery involving a 15-year-old player. Mike Chatman, 45, was arrested Friday. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer. A phone number wasn’t available. Natchez Police Department Det. Jerry Ford said the crime took place at a hotel during a basketball tournament in Simpson County from Dec. 27-29. Ford said police got a complaint from the Natchez-Adams School District that a volunteer trainer and cafeteria employee acted inappropriately with a student. Chatman turned himself in Friday. He allegedly confessed to the sexually inappropriate behavior. Interim Superintendent Joyce Johnson said Chatman has been fired.
