Atestare documentară 1332 sacerdos de villa Zalancha Municipiul Salonta, al doilea ca număr de locuitori din judeţul Bihor după municipiul Oradea, este aşezat în extremitatea vestică a ţării, lângă graniţa cu Ungaria (punct de trecere a frontierei la distanţă de 15 km), la 40 km sud de Oradea. Nr. de locuitori: 18137 Monumente istorice şi de arhitectură: „Turnul Ciunt” (sec. XVII). Călătorul aflat în Salonta se poate opri în casele ce au aparţinut poeţilor Arany János, Sinka István şi Zilahy Lajos, poate depune o floare la statuile acestora sau a revoluţionarului paşoptist Kossuth Lajos sau poate admira Turnul Ciunt ori Palatul “Arany” care adăposteşte Biblioteca orăşenească “Teodor Neş” şi o galerie de artă. Demne de interes sunt şi bisericile oraşului şi clădirea Primăriei.

Salonta is the second largest settlement from Bihor county, after Oradea, and it is located at the western part of the country near the Hungarian border. No. of inhabitans: 18137 Historical and architectural monuments: The “Truncated Tower” (XVII). The visitors of Salonta can see the memorial houses of Arany János, Sinka István and Zilahy Lajos, the statue of Kossuth Lajos, the “Truncated Tower” and the “Arany” Palace which hosts the “Teodor Neş” library and an art gallery. The building of the Town Hall, and the churches are also very interesting.
Első okleveles említés 1332 sacerdos de villa Zalancha Nagyszalonta városa a lakosok számát tekintve Bihar megye második legnagyobb települése Nagyvárad után. A város az ország legnyugatibb pontján fekszik, közel Magyarország határához (15 km távolságra a határátkelőtől). Lakosok száma: 18137 Történelmi és építészeti örökség: Csonkatorony (XVII. század). A látogató a városban megtekintheti az Arany János Emlékmúzeumot, amely a felújított Csonkatoronyban van, Sinka István, Zilahy Lajos szülőházát, Kossuth Lajos köztéri szobrát. Az Arany Palotában kapott helyet a Teodor Neş városi könyvtár, valamint egy művészeti galéria. A látnivalók között számos templomot és a városháza épületét is megemlíthetjük.
