For this design project, I designed a home for a hypothetical client who works from home, and has a family. The layout of the home ensures that the client has an office, which is situated away from possible distractions and busy parts of the house. As well as a separate family room that is enclosed to block out noises. Location of proposed design:

On a given lot, the task was to design a two-story commercial building that includes a supermarket on the first level, and two different businesses - with at least one companyhavingofficespaces-designatedon the second level. I went with the concept of designinganethnicEasternEuropeanmarket, an upstairs Cafe that is connected to the market, and a Law Firm with offices on the secondfloor.Thiscourseconcentratedonthe development of the project with an emphasis on the design process and the relationship betweenspacesandfunction,makingsurethe design acknowledged the needs and desires of the hypothetical client. For this special design project, I designed a residentialbuildingwithtwofunctions;beinga homeforafamily,whilealsobeingasmallInn business. Located in Manson, WA on lake Chelan, this location is great for tourism with many activities available in the summer and winter, with shops, wineries, eateries, and the marina just a few blocks away.
