Veronika Kvietková, Ing. arch. I finished the school of architecture in Czech Republic. The architecture is not just an ordinary object of studying, but can create incredible things. I like creating something that it can change people’s perceptions and perspective of the world. “Therefore, for me the building are not just the building.”

ARCHITECTURE

RESIDENTAL COMPLEX Designer : Veronika KvietkovĂĄ Location : Brno - KomĂn, Czech republic Project : Bachelor project Description of territory

Urban design

Addressed area is located in the city of Brno. The area is slightly sloping. Around the area are family houses. There is also a cottage area. In terms of transport infrastructure there is the entrance into the area only from the street Uhlirova. Great disadvantage of the territory is also the orientation of houses on the west and south side, which shade this area.

The purpose of urban design is to make sufficient use this area for the construction of residential character. Despite the problems that this area entails, it also has many advantages. The proposal was first individual objects embedded in the ground at the contour line, which makes creating a horizontal spacing between each mass. This gave in the project dynamism a simplicity. Objects are also large differences in elevation.

In the area are designed three types of family townhouses. (two-storey and three-storey townhouses) The houses are oriented to the west and east. Houses with access from the west side and also on the west side faces a covered garage for two cars. In the first above-ground floor are mainly social and technical areas. The large common area is east of the sloping garden. The second floor is residential. It is used mainly for work, play or sleep. From this floor you can access to a large terrace facing the garden. The third floor is for parents. 11 Bachelor work - Residental komplex, Brno, Czech Republic

TERMINAL FOR TRAINS AND BUSES Designer : Veronika Kvietková Location : Kromeriz, Czech republic Project : Diploma project Description of territory The diploma thesis included one large area in which the current train station is located in the city Kroměřížin Czech republic. The city’s railway stations currently form separate bus and train stations. The train station is a historic building that is the dominant of this area. An architectural project of the urban design is to solve the traffic problems of the area and design new premises of the Main Railway Station, with a program of accompanying functions

connected with the use of the water element of the Morava River. In an architectural project is created a tree promenade that leads people to the main station and also forms a barrier between residential buildings and trains. There are also designed market buildings and cafes with bowling lanes, with the opening during the summer season to the street.

There are 3 new buildings and a reconstructed historic railway station. The original historic building consisted of two parts, one of which was removed. the architectural design of the market is a modular system. Modules consist of several types with the same dimensions, and for a larger trade the module is doubled. Modules consist of different kinds of shops, which can be visited mainly by tourists while waiting for another bus or train connection. An interesting feature of this space is the arched structure that builds on the atmosphere of the city’s historic surroundings.

After a common roof there is also a café with bowling lanes. The original bowling building, which was located in that place, is especially popular with the city, so the idea of the design is also to enrich the café space, which can also be open, especially during the summer months to the street promenade. Close to the historic renovated building, there is also a small train museum, where everyone can explore exposed pieces of train types, the history of the station.

The area is located in town Kromeřiž. The concept of the prject is to revitalize the unused riverbank near the center. In the town of Kroměříž is the Morava River, which is not hygienically defective, but contains a higher level of phosphorus. After detailed analyzes from history to the future development of the design, which includes the project, it has been found that this river bank will be most suitable for revitalization.

The whole concept of the project is based mainly on the idea that the effort to create areas for the people who would mainly use their free time. The whole idea is to give different functions there. The connection of the riverbank is achieved by creating staircases. Barrier-free walkways is also included in the project. The riverbank is mainly used for water sports such as canoeing, various types of boats, prairies, kayaks, rafts, water pedal boats, and various inflatable boats and boats.

SQUARE Designer : Veronika Kvietková Location : Kroměríž, Czech republic Project : School project

Architectural design The main principle of the project are squares. These squares inspiration arose from the Flower Garden in Kroměříž. The main concept of the arrangement of these squares is precisely this garden. Squares form a symmetrical arrangement, to which it was put chessboard. Then the intended function of the individual squares that make up the square grassy and floral areas. It is subject to strict symmetry of the facade by the Arcibiskup palace and the orientation of its entry.

The hostel is primarily for students or visitors, and it offers three different kinds of rooms: individual ones, double ones with bunk beds, and high standart ones. All of them have a little terace. The bathroms are shared, but the high standart rooms have their own.

Apart from the rooms, the communal spaces have an important role in the project; we think that these shared areas are the heart of the building, where people can met each other. There are the interior spaces, like shared kitchens, lounges and study rooms, and the teraces.

The basic material of thee building is wood, and the system used is modular construction; these modules are designed to be easy for construction and transportation

ARCHITECURAL DESIGN The roof construction is designed near by the castle Porcia in Spittal an der Drau. Around the castle is a large park and a fountain, where people ussually spend their free time. The main idea is the renaissance style of castle. This style was inspirated for creating roof construction. This roof construction consistsfrom several arches, which they replicate the renaissance style of castle inside. The main structure is skeleton of wooden beams and steel columns.

Arches which form the roof, thea are also from wood and curves on surfaces, they are made from MDF sheets. I chose the MDF sheeds because of goo bending. Structure is not very bug, for conecting of skelet are only arches and beams. All arches have a cross-section 100x1000 mm, even though they do not share height. Steel columns are anchored in the ground and they have a cross-section 200x200 mm. Beams are connected with steel columns and arches by scres ans special metal particles.

PRO LINZ - Architectural study

In March I had a opportunity to start working in one of best Architectural Studio in Wien. I was a part of the big team, where we solved a lot of architectural studies. There were included floors, sections, details of constructions, a preparing of presentations, calculation of fasades and lightings. I had a opportunity to do digital models 3D in Sketchup, also real model for the exhibition of Biotop city.

Different urban core zones characterize the city of Linz. The new Building structure creates good conditions at the Lindengasse another, attractive neighborhood center. Spatial quality is the basis here for communication and for social identity. The abolition of the separation of living, working and leisure is decisive including consumption. Permeability in different weighting is a core element, to generate the special characteristics of the neighborhood. The differentiated network of paths and squares joins the new buildings. Small places, generous walks to the promenade create a fine-grained structure of communication and use.

During my 10 mouths there I improved my English and German skills. I became a part of team of a lot of architectural competitions and we prepared all documentations, which competitions needed.

HOHO WIEN - THE HIGHEST WOODEN BUILDING IN THE WORLD IDEA - THE INCEPTION OF HOHO VIENNA

MY WORK

Two visions timber construction and the idea of creating an unconventional building – were the starting point for the development and creation of HoHo Vienna. What happened then has the makings of a modern parable: a cosmopolitan investor, a courageous project developer, a new Vienna city district, a finely selected team, months of preparation, early involvement of the authorities and finally determination, drive, and a modern approach make it work: the world’s tallest wooden high-rise made partially from wood elements is soon to be built.

I was one of a team, who prepared the final documentation for the building permit. I prepared layouts in Autocad Architecture, also controlled the heights, measurement all floors. In documentations was included the calculation of sun lighting, floors, sections and details. This work teached me to know the calculation of important situations in the real project, when we need to have a building permit. I appreciate it, that I could do part of this work.

The often-studied, but never implemented idea of building a “wooden tower” will now be put into action in Austria’s capital city, outstripping the height of all previously built high-rises made of wood. HoHo Wien 1220 Wien, Janis Joplin Allee 26, Seestadt Aspern

City as nature The Biotope City concept connects the city and nature. In order to cope with the environmental consequences associated with urbanization, the mechanisms of nature and their self-regeneration should be used.

Details of this part of area (CC1)

The focus is not only on trees and bushes, but also on the extensive vertical thermal insulation of the facade and on the green roof. However, these exist only with a related life: insects, birds, small mammals. The integration of nature into the city also requires a far-reaching re-evaluation: the city can no longer be conceived as a counterpart to nature, but as a specific form of nature. My work

CC1

During my intership I spent a most of my time to help with the project Biotop City. I did a lot of detais of plants cubes on the fasade, details of fasade sectios, calculation of all elemets on the fasade, lighting, 3D models of details, real 3D model of area (on the exhibition), a presentation (on the exhibition). This project is currently being realized, in this time we are preparing the necessary documentations for this project. LANDSCAPE The small but efficient open space on the site is divided into two areas: The HAIN as a meeting place which is located on the front side directly in front of the common room. And the HOF as housing-protected space, visible from the laundry, the game of smaller children but also for parking and maintenance of bicycles available. The continuation of the topic wood also in the open space forms a total coherence in the project. The open space as a place of strengthening the community - neighborhood. Meeting grove in front of the common room, bicycle workshop in the open, laundry room, various games, wood workshop on the community square and the common terrace on the roof serve as a basis for communication and encounter in the house. IDEA - WHY WOOD The principle is to combine a “simplest” timber construction system with an efficient building structure. Wood hybrid construction: A stiffening concrete backbone is used for vertical and horizontal development and supply. The timber construction is docked with only two elements. Each material is used in such a way that it best meets the different requirements of statics, fire protection, flexibility, economy and room quality.

WHICH CITY DO WE WANT TO BUILD? The complex city Basically, there will be consensus that a compact, multi-faceted, complex urban structure, rich in spatial and aesthetic qualities, overlaid with a variety of uses, emanates humanity due to the subtle balance between the multiplicity of its architectural expression and the readability of its formal vocabulary. The open city Development of a mission statement based on building sites with regulations.

This method is superior to a building typology-based approach to development because it allows for and dictates the spatial quality, programming, and characterization of the neighborhood. Thus, not one type is given, but a typological variability and variety arises. This meets today’s requirements for a development-open, yet character-forming city and district planning. I was a part of competition team.

This accentuates both the edge of the city and the largest possible number of inhabitants enjoying the wide landscape. The compact low-cost garages are accessible from the limiting street space. They are also illuminated by the “sunken gardens” integrated in the open spaces. In the quarter itself, the inner spatial sequences are designed as “shared spaces” for residents and passers-by. INTERIOR DESIGN - FAMILY HOUSES Designer : Veronika Kvietkovå Work : Interior design, Atelier Dizajne, (Intern and Extern cooperation 1 year) Visualisations : AtelierDizajne Location : Žilina, Slovakia As my first experience in Interior Design Studio was in Atelier Dizajne located in Zilina. I learned there a lot of things about interior design rules, materials or the right composition in the room. I worked there with an experienced architect Mgr.art. Roman Ficek, who did a lot of realisations and architectural studies. During the study Mgr.art. Roman Ficek completed an internship at the University of Plymouth in Exeteri, England, a product design studio.

Also he took part in several design contests and exhibitions with many successes and awards. We chose mostly nature materials like are different types of woods and stones. Special we tried to bring in room airness, spaciousness and mainly functionality. Mostly I work on dispositions of rooms, the chosing materials and 3D modelling In Rhinoceros. The working in the studio was very fulfilling for me.

The main dominant of the staircase joining three floors is the structure in the form with a central girder. The selected materials are stainless steel, wood, steel, which have been selected with the possibility of easy replacement if it will be necessary.

The airyness and openness of the space is beautifully complemented by the glass railings. The main function of the staircase are added by the lighting and water elements, which elegantly emphasize the vertical of the whole space and create a very pleasant atmosphere.

As an optical pillar a central luminaire in the form of hanging balls at different levels creates the impression of a drop waterfall. The internal perimeter of the stair is copied by a stringed water curtain.

I tried to create multifuncional place for the work and eating. Very modern kitchen solution, where is all what you need. The design is completed with a open shelf to the living room, witch is making very nice connection betwen this two rooms. The natural colors of the interior make up a timeless design. This combination is appropriate for modern living. In this project is included all architectural drawings after consultation with a carpenter.
