Installing LAMP on local system Apache To install Apache use following command. $sudo apt-get install apache2 In any browser check by typing http://localhost/ It shows "It works" PHP To install PHP use following command. $ sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5 Restart the apache once php is installed. $ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart MYSQL To install mysql use following command. $ sudo apt-get install mysql-server PHPMYADMIN Installation steps 1.sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin 2.$ /etc/apache2$ gksudo gedit apache2.conf To set up under Apache all you need to do is to include the following line in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf. Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf 3. sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart 4. http://localhost/phpmyadmin Installing Drupal on localhost: 1. Copy the downloadable link from site http://drupal.org to /var/www Note : you should be a root while copying this folder. 2. Extract the tar file. 3. Rename it. Ex:drupal7test 4. Login to phpmyadmin by typing the url in browser "localhost/phpmyadmin" 5. Create a database. 6. Type this in browser : localhost/drupal7test

Several instructions will be shown while installing this and it is self explanatory Instruction will show up like copy default.settings.php to settings.php For example : 1) /var/www/drupal7test/sites/ 2) In default file you can see default.settings.php 3) use the command cp -r default.settings.php settings.php in the same folder 8. Give write permissions for settings.php and files folder. 9. It asks to enter the Database user name and password to connect with database. Give User name and passowrd which has been set while installing/logging in phpmyadmin 10. After save the settings. 11. Remove the write permissions to settings.php
