Coaches Bio Coach Ted Swinney Coach Ted Swinney is beginning his 9th year as the Head Softball Coach at Hillcrest High School. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama. During his time spent at Alabama, Coach Swinney earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He also received his Master’s degree in mathematics from the University of West Alabama. Coach Swinney has nine years of experience coaching softball at the high school level and was also named the “West Alabama Athlete’s Foot” Coach of the Year in 2014. In his nine years of coaching softball, the Patriots have accomplished 5 area championships, 4 appearances in the state tournament, and one state runner achievement. He also has 6 years of experience coaching baseball at the high school and junior college level. Coach Swinney has been married to his wife, Christie, for 16 years and they have an 8 year old son named Cooper. He believes that teamwork, sacrifice, and work ethic are vital to achieving ones goals. If these three things are applied, players will succeed on the field and in every day life.

Coach O.K Bryant Coach OK Bryant is beginning his 6th season with Hillcrest Softball. He has been coaching varsity football at Hillcrest for 22 years. Prior to coaching softball, he was assistant varsity baseball coach for 7 years. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. This will be Coach Bryant’s 30th year in coaching varsity sports. Coach Bryant is excited about this year’s opportunity to develop young ladies into not only great softball players but strong ladies that will be leaders in their community.


Coaches Bio Coach Taylor Cook Coach Taylor Cook is beginning her sixth year as the JV Softball Coach at Hillcrest High School. She is a graduate of Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. Taylor earned an Associate’s Degree at Shelton State and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education from the University of Alabama. Coach Cook is very excited to continue her coaching career at Hillcrest. She believes athletics can help our youth learn vital skills including being a leader, a team player, and how to face adversity, which will be of value to them throughout the rest of their life.

Coach Whitney Jordan Coach Whitney Jordan is in her 2nd year at Hillcrest High School. She teaches Special Education 9th-12th grade, is the assistant varsity volleyball coach and the pitching coach for the junior varsity and varsity softball team. She was a pitcher for the Wallace State Community College (Hanceville) softball team and went on to Athens State University to earn her degree. She has 7 years of experience coaching high school softball. She has coached at Walker, Oakman, Oak Grove and now Hillcrest High School. She is very excited to be a part of the program in helping in its continued success and helping develop these young athletes. Go Pats!!

Upon high school graduation, I plan to attend UAB, South Alabama, or The University of Alabama and major in radiology or athletic training.

Upon high school graduation, I plan to attend University of West Alabama and become an RN.

The person I admire is my mom, because she does everything. She remembers everything and finds everything that I lose. She is my biggest cheerleader. My favorite scripture is Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

I admire my parents because they help me through the tough things in life and lead me with positivity every day. I also want to be like them when I grow up. Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I think I may major in Medicine, law, or education. I admire my mom, she is truly selfless. She always puts others first and works hard to help provide for me. She seeks after God with all of her heart and loves everyone. She is an amazing mother and so forgiving. I want to be just like her one day. My parents are Shawn and Kristy Morrow, and I have a sister, Maci. My favorite foods are chicken and fries. Upon high school graduation, I want to play softball in college. I admire my sister. She has a very adventurous spirit and she leads me in the right direction. Another thing is that she has a heart of gold and is very forgiving. Upon high school graduation, I want to complete as many things on my bucket list as possible.

I most admire my parents. They sacrifice for me and my sister daily, to give us anything and everything we want.

My favorite food is pesto chicken. Upon high school graduation, I want to follow my dreams while attending college. I most admire my dad. He works so hard to provide for me, and to let me play softball, even though it takes a lot of money and time. He always puts others before himself and that is hard to do sometimes. My parents are Justine and Joni Nichols, and my sister is Madison. I like to play softball and volleyball. My favorite food is steak. After I graduate high school, I want to go to college and become a Physical Therapist. I most admire my dad because he is a hard working man and has helped me with every sport I have played. He is always my biggest fan. Phillipians 4:13 I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.

I enjoy traveling and my favorite foods are cheeseburgers, onion rings, corn bread and cream corn. Upon high school graduation, I want to attend The University of Alabama and pursue a degree in Elementary Education. I most admire Nana, Bernice Hollyhand. After high school, I will attend Shelton on softball scholarship, serve Calvary as a college investor, then I hope to go to Ole Miss or Alabama and pursue a business degree and play softball. I most admire my mom and my brother. They are the strongest two people I know. I look up to them because of how strong their faith is and was when we lost Dad. I am blessed to have an amazing Christian family. I most admire my mom because she has a job and still makes sure that we have everything we need for our lives. She cooks, cleans, does our laundry, and gets groceries. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I enjoy playing volleyball and my favorite food is mac and cheese. Upon high school graduation, I plan to attend college to become a nurse practitioner. I most admire my mom, because she does so much for me. I wouldn’t be playing the sport I love without her pushing me to keep going. Upon high school graduation, I want to attend college and become a respitory therapist.

I want to attend college to become a doctor, get married, buy a humungo house and start a family.

I most admire my mother. She is an uplifting and encouraging person who is always looking out for my best interests. The way she handles some of the most toughest situations makes me admire her more and more. Oh, and she has managed to put up with me for 16 years :-) Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God workds for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
