THE TETRUS BUILDING BLOCKS HAVE BEEN USED AS A BASIS TO EVOLVE THE SIMPLE, RECTILINEAR PLANS THAT ARE OPEN AND RESPONDS TO THE NEED OF SOCIAL CONTACT OF THE ELDERLY. THE ZONING HAS BEEN SO DONE TO EMPHASIZE THE LIVELINESS OF THE CAMPUS BY PLACING THE AMPHITHEATRE AND THE RAINWATER HARVESTING POND, RETAINING THE EXISTING TABUBIA TREES. HOWEVER, THE BASIC ESSENTIALS LIKE THE GERIATRIC WARDS, STAFF HOUSING, CLUB HOUSE AND GUEST HOUSE ARE CLOSE TO THE ACCOMODATION FOR EASY ACCESS.

THE 3 STAR HOTEL WAS SO DESIGNED TO KEEP THE CIRCULATION OF THE VISITORS AND STAFF AS MINIMAL AS POSSIBLE, THEREBY AVOIDING CONFUSION. SINCE THE SITE HAS A WATERBODY TOWARDS SOUTH WEST AND PARK AROUND IT, THE TOWER BLOCK HAS BEEN DESIGNED ALONG THE EDGE OF THE SITE TO CORRESPOND TO THE NATURAL FEATURES AROUND THE SITE. >THE CIRCULATION OF THE VISITORS IS RESTRICTED TO THE TOWER BLOCK AND THE GROUND AND FIRST FLOOR. ` > ALL THE ACTIVITIES OF THE STAFF IS RESTRICTED TO THE MEZZANINE AND THE SERVICE FLOOR.

MEZZANINE FLOOR THE ENTRANCE LOBBY ON THE GROUND FLOOR IS GIVEN ADEQUATRE HEIGHT TO SUPPORT THE DEAD LOAD OF THE SLAB ABOVE AND THE LIVE LOAD OF WATER WHICH IS VERY CRITICAL. RING BEAMS ARE USED.

3 STAR HOTEL

Considering the above slope analysis diagram, the campus has been designed in a way that there is minimal cut and fill. Cut and fill to about 1.5m has been considered acceptable.

This fine arts campus has been designed using the principle of radial organising thereby creating a focal point into which all the spaces look into. A ring of slab around trees are provided in all the junctions to provide social interaction spaces for students, taking the college life into a whole new experience.

SLOPE ANALYSIS

Fine arts campus is an educational institution providing more of an informal learning. Going by the case studies done, the campus needs more of interaction and semi-formal places.

SITE PLAN

The gallery spaces, needing diffused lighting has been provided in the basement level with not many openings to the exterior wall

CONCEPT:

The concept has been derived from a simple square. The square has been cut diagonally and flipped along the horizontal axis. The floor plates have been recessed every 3 floors by 6m with the middle floor projecting out by 3m. The first floor plate out of a set of 3 has a balcony with green cover. There is central podium in between the 2 towers with commercial complexes and a outdoor food court. This podium is designed with a central green atrium with is covered with a skylight.
