Hi. This is Vania. This is my portfolio.

I am a Singaporean who moved to the UK in 2004, adapted to a different life and adopted many wonderful insights. The UK has definitely been a place of inspiration and has opened my eye for design. I decided to take a course in Graphic Design and since then, I know I will never look at anything designed in the same way ever again. Everything is inspirational and has made me constantly think. I am passionate. I am dedicated. I am a thinker.

Hydrophobia POSTER Client: A panel of psychologists sponsor. Proposed company of Mind. Description: A poster designed to be displayed in an exhibition for psychologists to view. The poster is meant to evoke the feelings of a hydrobic person. Developed further into an advert for the Mind company. Strapline: ‘FEE FI PHOBIA. Don’t be afraid of what you got’ is inspired by the phrase of “fee fi fo fum” which is what the giant in the character of Jack and the beanstalk said. It is meant to be a threatening phrase which is appropiate for that is what phobia seems to be to some people. Mind company is there to help get rid of this of these fears.

‘SSH’ Sugar Packaging Description: A project set out to rebrand sugar. ‘Shh’ is a low-calorie sugar and emphasises on the aspect of it being a sweet secret, letting others think you can have that amount of sugar without putting on weight. Packaging is clear and helps customers see how much sugar they have left. A trianglular cut off corner and a plastic tab to close opening, makes pouring easier.


‘SSH’ Advertisements Description: A project set out to advertise the new brand.


Book cover design Description: A book cover designed for a pastor’s new book. The title of the book is taken from a verse in the Bible.


CHRISTMAS CARDS Description: A deck of Christmas cards designed for friends. Small compact and quirky. They would place the card near to their noses to be turned into a Ruldolph red nose reindeer. The idea is to be a part of Christmas as our part is to spread the joy of the birth of Jesus Christ.


BRISTISH BORN CHINESE SOCIETY Description: Identity for the british born chinese society in the Unviersity of Leeds. A contemporary updated look to replace the old identity. Against a yellow background as the BBC’s refer to themselves as bananas yellow on the outside, white on the inside. Membership cards were printed out too.

BookLET cover design Description: A booklet cover designed for a church weekend retreat away, to hold information such as songs, talks and timetable. The theme was according to a parable taken from the Bible.

GOODKNIGHT HOSPITALITY SERVICE Client: Elmwood, Leeds Description: A project aiming to rebrand Couchsurfing. Name it, brand it and campaign it. The concept for this new brand and campaign is to target people who are low in cash but need a place to crash. To instill an attitude for helping each other out, in these times of financial difficulties. Everyone who signs up is like a knight, as they defend each other. It being a social networking site too, relates to a knighthood. It has a witty tone of voice but still remaining professional.

GOODKNIGHT WEBSITE Description: Here are a few of the website pages for the Goodknight service.The poster will be linked to this website, where the audience can sign up and join the service. The colour tone matches with the overall tone of voice of the service, which is security and trust.

GOODKNIGHT App Description: An app for platforms of the Ipad and Iphone is introduced, whereby anyone in any situation of needing a place to stay for the night can simply type in where their current location is and the clever app will notify and show you available knights in the area. The yellow symbols will show where a fellow knight can be found. All that one would have to do is to click request on it. Every knight would have to update their status to either unavailable or available, which determines whether the symbol appears or not.

SHUFTI MAGAZINE Client: Vast Agency, Shufti Description: A part of a magazine designed for the 10th Anniversary of Shufti magazine. We were given a list of words to choose from and had to follow the theme. The word that I chose was FUSE.The summary of the story is about a scientist who was a lonely and wanted to make his world a better place, from his chemical mess, he made a creature. There was a fusion of chemicals. I wanted to fuse science, art and fashion together.

7 DEADLY SINS Description: A series of photograhs depicting the seven deadly sins through the use and imagery of fruits. Give a guess which is which.


THE perfect M&S PICNIC Client: M&S Description: A competition brief to package the “Perfect M&S picnic�. The idea of this picnic is based on the romatic french theme. It brings together the dining experience of indoor and outdoors, as well as the quality of food in dining.Canapes, Pate,Quiche,Macaroons, Creme Brulee and wine is provided. All in all, it oozes witiness and romanticness.


Wonder of Emotions Client: London Science Musuem Description: A final year project that was set personally, which included a fictional brief by the London Science Musuem, whereby a request to set up an interactive digital exhibition for families was given. The exhibition is about the five basic emotions that every human being have.There are links to it through the use of advertisments and a website. The exhibition displays interactive animations, games and information. There are even merchandises to purchase.

In this exhibition, you will get to meet and know the emotional monsters, that encapsulates an emotion each.
