REMEMBERING DISNEYLAND

485. “Haunted Mansion” Madame Leota Seance Book Page Prop. (Disneyland, c.2000s) A page from Madame Leota’s seance book from Disneyland’s “Haunted Mansion” attraction. This page was an Imagineering reference copy depicting the imagery displayed in Madame Leota’s book within the attraction. The sheet features an image of “Death” on the left page, with “A Spell to Bring to Your Eyes and Ears One Who is Bound in Limbo” on the right page. This page is mounted to a sturdy plastic backing for storage and reference use. This item measures 17”x25.5” including its backing, and is in very good condition with some minor scuffing from use. $1,000-$2,000

486. Madame Leota “Haunted Mansion” 16mm Film. (Disneyland, c.1970) An extremely rare 16mm film used for Madam Leota’s crystal ball at Disneyland’s “Haunted Mansion” attraction. The iconic crystal ball appears to contain the head of the mysterious spirit medium Madame Leota, while the effect is achieved through a 16mm film projection into the crystal ball. The film features the facial movements of WED Imagineering employee Leota Toombs, while the accompanying audio used in the attraction was performed by Eleanor Audley whose previous voice work could be heard in “Sleeping Beauty” as Maleficent and in “Cinderella” as Lady Tremaine, among others. Originally, the looped film would run through a projector onto a stationary bust within the crystal ball, but as technology improved, digital projection allowed the crystal ball to move about the air as it does today. The roll of film measures 2.5” in diameter with a 1.5” in diameter space in the center. There is a small piece of tape along the center with a hand-written “37” marking. The film has not been tested for playability, but appears to be in very good functioning condition. $600-$800 146

487. “Haunted Mansion” E Coupon Sign. (Disneyland, c.1980) An extremely rare E Coupon sign from Disneyland’s “Haunted Mansion”. The attraction opened in 1969 and the use of A through E tickets ceased by 1982. Even though attraction tickets are no longer in use, the history of these tickets is an iconic part of Disneyland’s legacy. This E Coupon sign was created by Disney but likely was used as a production test or reference item, rather than for functional display within the park. The sign measures 18”x12” and is in good condition with some edge-wear and a few small spots of discoloration. $1,000-$2,000
