MUSIC bears a transformative power like no other art form - it speaks to body and soul, to heart and mind, to spirit and matter. It carries and translates, consoles and challenges, stirs emotions and conjures sound-worlds - through its multi-coloured languages. The Vancouver Island Symphony’s 23rd season catches these essential qualities of the art of music-making - to move and be moved, to communicate and be spoken to, to feel and reflect, and relate, and celebrate. We travel through history and make the world’s musical legacy our own; Beethoven, Mozart, Stravinsky, Schubert, Vivaldi, Brahms - they all become Vancouver Islanders! Hear us play and pray, hit, hover and hush, sing and soar, vibrate and venerate! Our Port Theatre stage is a hub of exchanges and ideas - from the orchestra to the audience’s ears, and back! Live performance is second to none and we offer the best of it, in styles for everyone’s tastes - through baroque, classical, romantic, modern, and side trips to the popular and seasonal. Experience the thrill of live symphonic music, and join your VIS for this fantastic celebration of music and the people who make it! Welcome to all! Pierre Simard, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
