This fashion and textile exhibition by RMIT Link recognises and responds to human issues over the Earth’s ecological systems and the relationship fashion has with the world around it now and into the future.

Through reworking materials, Ro Noonan presents ‘Strain and Structure’, sculptural works that that quietly demands a sense of inquiry and intimacy while Elwyn Murray and Aaron Billings present ‘Sweat’, contemporary art exploring heteronormative erasure of queer identities and negative effects of socialised masculinity.

Faces + Masks is a photographic series from Greek artist Nikos Vavdinoudis features costumes from eight villages in rural Northern Greece and the obscure but fascinating rituals associated with them.

Simon Shinberg, a showman, an icon, a husband, a father and a forgotten legend. This emotional and compelling insight into the lost world of the Australian fashion industry from the 1940s to the 1980s is not just an exhibition, but a runway show full of stories and iconic moments from Simon’s career presented by his daughter Debra Dascal.

A runway performance and installation, offering a series of garments that address the way in which seams function to fashion the body. In the days following the runway you are invited to return to try on the garments yourself.

Despite the rise of conscious consumerism and fashion exhibitions, it’s rare that the two combine. This exhibition addresses the rationale through the works of five contemporary female artists: Amaya Iturri, Lynn Mowson, Caroline Phillips, Ema Shin and Bronwyn Watson. Works vary in medium and interpretation through intimate narratives of the theme.

A collaborative project that saw established Victorian artists work alongside The Social Studio (TSS) designers and artists to create new artworks using a range of mediums that have been woven into socks.

Visual artist, Miranda Skoczek explores the wearable in DESHILADO, a ground breaking exhibition of drawn, threaded and jewelled works for Pieces of Eight.

This exhibition will explore the meaning and symbolism of ritualistic costumes by showcasing a selection of religious clothing used within Jewish rituals, ceremonies and festivals.

Kate V M Sylvester, emerging contemporary textile artist has created a reverse catwalk at Tinning Street Presents. Using t-shirts as a ready-made art object, a collection of tees will be de-threaded by hand and suspended.
