OPPORTUNITY ON TO OPPORTUNITY You’ve probably been hearing a lot about going “off to college.” As if it’s a big farewell, a chapter closed. Not so at Valpo. We’re about getting on with things. The infinite possibilities. The fresh discoveries. The true sense of belonging — achieved simply by being you. It’s a journey, no doubt. But one you’ll make in the company of classmates who motivate you to be your best and professors who care about you and your success. We’re a close-knit community. It’s so easy to find opportunities to fuel your passions and find your purpose. Imagine a schedule filled not only with studies, but with athletics and intramurals, arts and culture, sorority and fraternity life, and everything in between. You can do it all at Valpo. Here, you’ll find your way. And go far beyond.

ON TO ACADEMICS Valpo professors love to teach. They love to learn, too (could be why U.S. News and World Report ranks our faculty No. 1 in the Midwest). Step in the classroom and feel the curiosity and zest for discovery. Small class sizes are key to your success. Your professors will know more than your name — they’ll know your career goals and dreams and inspire you to chase them. Our faculty is full of industry experts who have done some pretty major things, like participating in sessions with the United Nations and receiving a $2.3 million ARPA-E grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to research solar energy. Soak up the learning. And take in the atmosphere: Many of our buildings are LEED certified, because environmental responsibility is something we stand behind.

SUPPORT SYSTEM Ask the difficult questions and challenge what you know to be true. Criticalthinking skills and creativity are central to the liberal arts foundation you get at Valpo, regardless of your major. We understand you might not have it all figured out yet. Which is why you’ll enjoy such a variety of academic programs and the freedom to change your mind. When you’re ready to take the next big step, we’ll work with you on graduate placement. It’s all about a support system — one that’s built from Day One as a freshman when you blaze your path in our Core or Christ College programs. Learn together. Grow together. And feel great about the fact that the next person you meet may be a friend for life.

ON TO COMMUNITY Grow into the person you dream to be. Know an entire community has your back. That’s right — you never feel like you’re going it alone. Valpo is a residential campus, which means your classmates don’t clock in and out like a 9-to-5 job. They live nearby, are engaged in countless on-campus activities, and build you up to tackle this whole exciting ride. Why? Because Valpo students expect success of themselves and of each other. Settle into your way of being you. Get as immersed as you like in the colorful student culture — where you balance athletics and the arts, and have the chance to hold leadership roles in organizations you care about. Form bonds in sororities and fraternities. Play on (or cheer for) Division I Athletics teams. Enjoy the pulse of residential life. The just-big-enough campus and student body means there are endless opportunities. So many friendships ready to unfold. You won’t know everyone all at once — and that’s the thrill of it. Yet you’ll surely run into your favorite people around campus every day — especially at everyone’s favorite hangout, the Harre Union. (Starbucks and a concert, anyone?) As you can see, it’s okay to put your books down. In fact, it’s safe to try something and fail. That’s what happens when you’re where you not only fit, you belong. Get ready for the best years of your life — so far.

being well rounded. That’s what employers want. And, more importantly, that’s what the world needs. Valpo prepares you for success. It spurs you to test concepts and theories, then take action. The ultimate goal? Launch your career. That takes a good amount of determination. It takes a moment when you close your eyes and say, “Let’s do this.” And you will. Our faculty and your fellow students are at your side.
