Safeguarding Level 1/2 covers the basics that everybody who works with children, young people and/or families needs to know: normal child development, how to recognise abuse and neglect and what to do if you have a concern about a child. This course looks at the differing treatment needed for either employing self-employed workers, or employing casual/temporary employees and the employment rights they are entitled to. The Youth in Action Programme supports programmes that encourage mobility and intercultural learning between young people within the European Union. If you have a project idea and are interested in knowing whether you might be able to apply to the fund this session will help make this clearer. The programme also provides funding to help people working in the youth sector develop skills and establish contacts necessary to enhance their work.

The session will look at the do’s and don’ts of how to ensure your pre-qualifying questionnaire (PQQ) submission is successful. This is an introductory two-hour course that deals with serious conditions and incidents. The training covers emergency life support techniques for adult casualties and is ideal if you would like to be trained in CPR skills and need to know what to do when initially faced with an emergency.

Crowd funding is an alternative to applying for grants and describes the efforts of groups to reach others, usually via the Internet to get support for their efforts. This day-long course is being provided by Crowdfund UK, and will help you understand what crowd funding is and how it works and help your organisation plan a campaign.

Individuals with mental health issues can benefit hugely from volunteering and can make a really useful contribution, often at a high level, to the work of your organisation. But often involvers of volunteers are put off involving them, as they feel inexpert in this area. This course is designed to cover the basic do’s and don’ts of involving volunteers with mental health issues and leave organisations confident to do so. Peter Smith of Aspiro delivers this session.

Convinced that you could never handle accounts for a business? Then this workshop is for you. Come along and have the jargon explained in simple language and learn the basic skills you need to successfully manage your business accounts.

Marketing on a Shoestring Date: Wednesday 7 November Venue: CASE, First floor, 1 The Crescent, King Street, Leicester, LE1 6RX What makes you mad when dealing with other companies? And how can you stop your customers from feeling the same way about your social enterprise? A dissatisfied customer tells another nine people on average, which can severely undermine your marketing strategy. This workshop will cover marketing tactics such as the Balanced Scorecard that will enable you to stay one step ahead of your competition by understanding and anticipating the needs of your customers.
