PUBLISHERS’ LETTER To Our Dedicated Readers, Welcome to The Valley Wedding Pages Fall Holiday 2020 magazine! The year is soon coming to an end, and while the pandemonium that has been COVID-19 is still affecting society and our lives daily, the pandemic has shed light on what is most important, especially love and family. Our couples have had to make some important decisions on their wedding celebration, whether to postpone or tie the knot in a smaller “minimony” and “micro wedding”. Even our local wedding vendors and businesses have been drastically affected and have found ways to continue to serve their clients and the community in the new social climate. With a new perspective this pandemic has brought, The Valley Wedding Pages is now working with our advertisers to give back to our much-needed community by sponsoring a child through the Boys and Girls Club with each advertisement purchase. These small and intimate weddings still hold the spirit of love and marriage for all our couples we are happy to feature in this issue, including our Front Cover bride Victoria Moncayo and her husband Wade Best whose minimony had everything that was most important for their special day. When Mr. and Mrs. Best, and our other couples, were planning their alternate wedding day, they followed the recommended guidelines to host a wedding celebration that kept themselves and their guests safe and healthy from a social distance. This issue shows how you can apply the same protocols to your own wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic. From invitation etiquette to bridal shower parades, there are excellent choices to ensure a safe yet exciting party. Along with tips and advice to guide you, we are proud to present the new graduates of the 2020 Wedding Planning Academy, who completed their certifications virtually over the summer and are ready to coordinate upcoming weddings and events. We are looking forward to the next line of students for the Spring 2021 course, so stay tuned! INDIE IMAGE PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION NIU URBAN LIVING HAIR & MAKEUP EMPORIO HAIR SALON DINA BAEZ

Throughout these past few months, we have all been hit in one form or another by COVID-19, and we continue to encourage our brides and grooms and vendors to practice safety regulations and etiquette so that we can come together with friends and family to celebrate the many great things that have occurred throughout 2020. We look forward to what our engaged and newly married couples are planning for the coming year, and we want you to remember that as long as we continue to support and love one another, nothing will bring us down. Congratulations to all of our couples, and Happy Planning! Daisy Gonzalez & Staff

T

he year 2020 began with Victoria and Wade counting down the days until their wedding day they happily planned for April. What the happily-in-love couple did not see coming was a worldwide pandemic that would put a halt on their nuptials. Victoria and Wade were devastated by the tragedy that is COVD-19; however they did not let it put a damper on their wedding plans. They decided to take the micro wedding route, with only a guest list of eight, and exchanged vows on July 11, 2020. To prepare for her special day, Victoria spent the morning with her mom and sisters at her childhood home while Wade spent time with his brother at their father’s home. The bride dressed in a shorter, casual version of her wedding dress, a strapless satin-silk number with a subtle handkerchief hem. With a bouquet of bashful pink peonies in hand, Victoria was ready to become Mrs. Best. At the Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, Wade stood at the altar dressed in a custom dove grey suit and Houston Astros socks, with his brother as his best man by his side, happily waiting for his bride to arrive. With their immediate family in the front pew, the church was filled with the lovely melody of Pachebel’s “Canon in D” when Victoria’s father walked her down the aisle to the love of her life. Before the eyes of God and their family, Pastor Marcus guided the couple into the first steps of marriage, reminding them of their love and faith in each other, and even their mutual love for the Astros! Victoria and Wade exchanged rings and vows, and with Pastor Marcus’ blessing became husband and wife. After sharing their first kiss as a married couple, they made their way out of the church to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” After family photos outside the church, Mr. & Mrs. Best spent the rest of the day basking in their nuptials, picking up a delicious meal and dessert from Santa Fe Steakhouse and enjoyed dinner at their home with their three fur babies. Victoria and Wade enjoyed their honeymoon at the picturesque Cabo San Lucas, reflecting on their wedding – an intimate and relaxing day that focused on themselves and their ever growing love.

December wedding was set for Bianca and Aldo, who were excited to celebrate their nuptials in a grand celebration with their loved ones. Unfortunately, COVID-19 blindsided the world, and Bianca and Aldo were forced to change the logistics of their wedding plans. While a pandemic took over, it wouldn’t stop their love. The most important thing for Bianca and Aldo was that they were together, and to make a promise to God as they become husband and wife. And so, August 8th was set for a “micro wedding” with only seven of their immediate relatives. Bianca and Aldo were married in her childhood church at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg, where Bianca’s father walked her down the aisle to “Turning Pages” by Sleeping At Last. The bride looked stunning in a long sleeved lace mermaid gown with a matching cathedral veil while the handsome groom wore a tuxedo with matching black boots and a Stetson. The couple was pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Davila, and their lovely ceremony was followed by an intimate celebration at their home. Flowers and banners decorated the home where Bianca and Aldo and their family enjoyed a light meal and a bundt wedding cake with lemon raspberry and raspberry vanilla from their favorite bakery. Bianca and Aldo happily shared their first dance right in their living room to “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young, followed by a father-daughter and a mother-son dance. While it wasn’t the original wedding they planned for, Bianca and Aldo were delighted to be married, surrounded by their family and with the blessings of having each other.

J

anuary 18th is a day I hold dear to my heart; the anniversary of my grandfather’s passing. In remembrance, Daniel and I chose January 18, 2020 as our wedding date. While planning our nuptials, Daniel and I decided on a color scheme of red, blue and black in homage to our high school, where we first met. Our mutual love for music was seen throughout our wedding including my musical group at the church ceremony followed by a guitarist, Jake Cortez; El Mariachi Continental de Hector Guerra; and Tejano Artist Lucky Joe. The live performances served as a great backdrop for our emotion-filled day. After Daniel was escorted down the aisle at our ceremony by his parents, my eyes were filled with tears when it was my turn to be escorted by my father and stepfather. The traditional Catholic ceremony was everything we hoped for, with time seeming to slow down just for us, as we were joined in matrimony with the arras that were once used in my grandparents’ 1949 wedding. Daniel and I truly felt all the love and support of our families, friends, and loved ones as we became Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Saenz.

B

lue skies, sunshine, and a slight chill to the air set the perfect day for Daisy and Eladio’s wedding day on December 28, 2019. The bride was filled with excitement as she was glammed up, looking radiant in a flowing mermaid gown with delicate lace details and off the shoulder sleeves. Looking just as picture perfect, the groom arrived at the San Juan Diego church in Mission dressed handsomely in a navy blue suit. He stood at the altar, waiting along with their families and friends as nieces and nephews walked down the aisle, making way for Daisy to be escorted by her loving father. The church choir sang as Daisy and Eladio became husband and wife through a traditional Catholic mass. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed to their picturesque venue where they arrived to a second ceremony! This time, the altar was outdoors, and Daisy and Eladio’s dogs, golden retriever Hayley and Siberian husky Sophie, participated as the flower girls wearing flower collars. After the second ceremony, everyone headed to the ballroom reception, beautifully decorated to be a perfect winter celebration. Guests stayed warm and cozy with embroidered blankets as they enjoyed the delicious meal of chipotle chicken, asparagus, and pasta before the parents of the bride and groom, and Mr. and Mrs. De La Cruz walked out to a formal presentation. Daisy and Eladio shared their first dance to Cody Johnson’s “With You I Am”, followed by Daisy sharing a dance with her father to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland, and Eladio with his mom to “Carino Sin Condicion” by Carlos y Juan. Soon everyone was on the dance floor enjoying the music, catching the bouquet and garter, and enjoying slices of the vanilla pecan and strawberry wedding cake. The night ended too quickly, but guests sent off the newlyweds with dazzling sparklers and left the reception with great memories and dog treat favors for their fur babies.

How to Keep Your Wedding Safe

COVID-19 ADJUSTMENTS

P

lanning a wedding comes with many details to decide and finalize on – flowers, cake, music, and more. However, with the COVD-19 pandemic changing the dynamics of wedding celebrations, adjustments and new guidelines for hosting a wedding have been created to keep couples and their guests safe. Here are important details to keep in mind if you and your fiancé have decided to go forward with a small celebration, whether it’s a micro wedding or a minimony.

If you decide to select a new date for your wedding, consider having a backup date or two in place. With the current worldwide situations, it’s never a bad idea to be prepared. Deciding on who to have at your wedding, and who to cut, is often a very difficult subject to handle. Now with certain health guidelines and protocols to follow, you must be sure to keep in mind the number of guests you will be allowed to invite. Discuss with your fiancé and the venue, if you are getting married at a church or a separate location, this number and the people you want to be in attendance. Some places will allow up to 50 people, while others will only have a minimum of 10, including the newlyweds. Even with a smaller guest list, everyone’s health should still be a priority. Remember to remind your guests about wearing masks at the wedding. It would be a good idea to consider having masks on hand in case anyone forgets theirs, or even custom masks with your wedding date or monogram to give as favors. This can even be done with small bottles of hand sanitizer! Along with small bottles, the

church or venue could offer a hand sanitizer station at the entrance for extra protection. Social distancing is a new practice for public outings and locations. To make sure your guests are keeping a safe distance, use your wedding flowers and decorations to your advantage at the ceremony. They can serve as markers to where guests can sit or stand at the ceremony. If you’re having a seated dinner, reduce the number of chairs at tables, such as 6 instead of 8 per table. For dancing, a slightly larger dance floor will give guests more space to enjoy the music while maintaining a safe distance. For reception meals, make sure you discuss with your caterer beforehand what protocols and safety codes are being set in place. Masks for staff, pre-sliced wedding cake, and one-time use utensils, and more. To have assure a give you and the

new rules and plans smooth wedding day, and your guests peace freedom to enjoy your

set will and will of mind nuptials

We hope that these pieces of advice help you through the wedding planning process. You, like many other couples, are sharing the same uncertainty and struggles. Remember that you are not alone and that the Valley Wedding Pages is here for you every step of the way.

Wedding Design Competition WEDDING DESIGN

D

uring the 2020 pandemic, the wedding industry and its businesses were left idle for months, unable to produce their services and crafts for their couples. Wishing to give local wedding planners a chance to dust off their creative minds, The Valley Wedding Pages hosted a delightful wedding design competition, inviting wedding coordinators and designers from all over the Rio Grande Valley to participate for a chance to have their design picked as Number 1. The challenge – to set up a designed set with only the rentals on hand, provided by Creative Rental Solutions, and in an allotted timeframe. Three local wedding designers came out to show out their unique styles; all stunning and gorgeous, but only one was chosen by The Valley Wedding Pages Instagram followers. Karina Gonzalez of Pandora Wedding Planning & Design was selected as the winner, gifted a prize of a $100 gift card from Portillo Jewelers, and in turn, Karina generously used the gift card in a raffle for one of her lucky brides. All three designers did a spectacular job, and we are excited for the next competition!

The New Standard of Wedding Etiquette INVITATIONS

I

n light of the COVID-19 pandemic, couples ready to get married have had to make many adjustments and changes to their wedding plans. While many have decided to simply push back their wedding to a later date, others are still moving forward with tying the knot on a much smaller scale. The new norm of “micro weddings” and “minimonies” are becoming a popular choice during the worldwide pandemic, allowing couples to still get married in a more intimate and safe setting. Oftentimes this means that the guest list is cut down to the bare minimum, and couples struggle to figure out how to announce this decision to their original guests without offense or hurting loved ones feelings.

Before COVID-19, it was highly considered rude and improper to withdraw a guests’ invitation to your wedding. Now, with health and safety guidelines and regulations in place for social gatherings, the social climate has changed to a much more understanding and sympathetic mindset. While friends and family are considerate and fully understand why they would not have made the cut to the guest list, it’s still recommended to keep in mind how to properly word this decision, especially in a new save-the-date or announcement. They say honesty is the best policy. This applies perfectly to letting your guests know whether the wedding has been postponed to a later date, or whether a smaller ceremony will take place with limited guests followed by a larger celebration at a later date. Be sure to note your concern for everyone’s health and well-being due to the pandemic, something out of your control. If you and your fiancé decide on a virtual ceremony, update your wedding website with the Zoom link (or any platform you choose to stream from), and include the information in your invitation/announcement. Giving your family and friends the option to be part of your special day virtually will allow them to be involved from a safe distance and share the memory. For those who will be attending your small celebration, be sure to include as much information as possible on the invitation. Date, time, social distance and mask reminder; these important details will give reassurance to your guests and reduce any confusion.

MARISOL IZAGUIRRE PHOTOGRAPHY

Remember, sending your loved ones a formal but personalized announcement with new changes to your wedding plans is great assurance that will ease any anxiety or worries, and the knowledge of keeping their well being in your thoughts while planning is something they will be grateful for.

Cars & Parades - The New Shower Trend EVENT PLANNING

O

ne of the pre-wedding celebrations a bride looks forward to is her bridal shower, a party where her soon-to-be married status is celebrated with her lady friends and family, with food and drinks, games, and gifts from the wedding registry. Nowadays, gatherings such as these are not recommended due to the COVID pandemic, keeping everyone distanced and healthy. While a traditional bridal shower may not be possible, one of the most popular ways brides are still celebrating is through a drive-by or drive-thru bridal shower.

What is a drive-by or drive-thru shower? It’s exactly what you imagine – friends and family, drive up to your house or the location of your choosing in their cars, dropping off gifts, and give their well-wishes from a safe social distance! While this may seem quick and simple, there’s no reason to make it personal and special. Set up some fun decorations for where your guests will drive up to. Consider using balloons, flowers, and custom signs for a fun setting. It will also give your friends and family a chance to snap some photos of the set up! Signs are a great way to guide the cars on where to drive through and to park, especially if there are narrow streets and small spaces.

Guests can come together to make a little bridal shower parade, driving by your house to show off their cars decorated in window paint and signs and banners! This would be a great chance for photo ops and to have everyone together, even if in their own vehicles. Your guests are bringing you gifts; wouldn’t it be nice to give something in return for their generosity and for driving out to see you? Consider small favors or gifts, from hand sanitizers and bath bombs to boxes of treats and mini bottles of wine to give to your lady friends. Custom labels with a personal message can be added to your gifts!

Even during a pandemic, there’s no reason to halt any and all special occasions. Adjustments can be made, and social distance can be set in place, all keeping the celebrations lively and memorable!

Wedding Planning Academy 2020 SUMMER CLASS

Aria’s Treasure Chest owner Vanessa Bautista found the perfect opportunity to expand and develop her career when the Wedding Planning Academy made its debut. Her background and degree in finance, along with her hunger to learn new things, gave Vanessa the necessary savvy and knowledge to start her own business. Having started out making decals and shirts, Aria’s Treasure Chest evolved and expanded into the successful shop it is today. Through her certification with the WPA, Vanessa hopes to use her newfound knowledge, skills, and list of colleagues to network with in the hopes of not only taking her company to the next level, but also add wedding planning to her list of services.

VANESSA BAUTISTA Kelian, a Texas A&M graduate, has been involved in event planning since high school, starting with organizing homecoming dances and eventually becoming the Social Chair of her sorority at Texas A&M where she utilized her leadership skills to create spectacular events. After graduating and moving back home to McAllen, Kelian found an amazing opportunity to work at the popular gift shop, Barn White, where her love for designing table settings grew. With her new Wedding Planning Academy Certification in hand, Kelian now runs her namesake business, Kelian Fowler Wedding Planning & Design in which she hopes to help couples create their dream wedding through trust and a keen eye for detail.

KELIAN FOWLER A UTPA graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Princee juggled her 15 year career as a Hidalgo County probation officer with her time in the Valley Symphony Orchestra & Chorale. When it came time to planning her own January 2020 wedding to her loving and supportive husband, Daniel Saenz, Princeee found the entire process enjoyable and exciting, and she realized she wanted to continue to plan weddings. The Wedding Planning Academy came into the picture, and with her new certification in hand, she plans to coordinate month-by-month and Day Of Events; not just weddings but as well as quinceaneras, birthdays, and other private events. Princee is sure to create many unforgettable events.

PRINCEE MARES A UTRGV business management graduate with certifications in supply chain management, Rocio found her place in the transportation industry where she holds a Recruiting and Retention position, and now the title of Marketing Director. Among her list of many responsibilities, Rocio now handles the planning and coordination of small events within the company. This new venture led her to search for a program that could offer her the skills and knowledge she would need to become more efficient when arranging her company’s events. After completing the WPA course, finding the more personalized studies and its hands-on approach quite useful, Rocio hopes that she will expand her portfolio and one day become a corporate and small business event planner, bringing ROCIO RENDON

December 20, 2019

Photography by ANETTE | MIGUEL PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY

O

n December 20, 2019, I woke up to dozens of beautiful white roses outside my door, indicating that the day I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl was finally here. Eric and I were only kids when we first came into each other’s lives, and even then we knew God had a plan for us. As we grew older we became stronger and knew we wanted to continue growing by each other’s side. Now, I find myself on our wedding day, dressed in a stunning Ysa Makino gown with a show stopping 12-foot veil, walking down the aisle with my father. The string trio brought the classic “Wedding March” to life as I saw my future husband at the altar, the special moment bringing tears to my eyes. Eric and I exchanged our vows and finally became Mr. & Mrs. Escalante. Later, when my husband and I walked down the stairs into our ballroom reception, “A Thousand Years” filled the air as we took in the gorgeous décor and overflowing floral arrangements of white roses and hydrangeas. Our guests had the best time celebrating our nuptials with us, and everything was truly perfect. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

Dinner is Served CATERING

T

he biggest dinner party you will ever host will be your wedding reception. Food should be delicious, effortless, and memorable. The traditional three-course plate has become a thing of the past with couples exploring countless options to serve their first meal as a married couple.

Plated Service

Cocktail Style

A structured and formal service, this traditional option will make sure every table gets their food at the same time, and spreading out the time between each course will leave room for wedding activities (the first dance and toasts).

A recent trend amongst modern couples, a cocktail-style service is perfect for those wanting a casual atmosphere, especially for brunch or early afternoon reception. Hors d’oeuvres and small bites are either passed by servers or offered at small stations, while guests mix and mingle and spend more time on the dance floor.

Buffet This self-service option gives guests a variety of food stations to visit, perfect to accommodate those with allergies and dietary restrictions. Requiring less wait staff, this also gives guests the chance to mingle with patrons from other tables.

Family Style A twist on plated meals, large portions of the meal offerings are brought to each table on serving platters for guests to fill their plates. Quick and efficient, this provides the perfect opportunity for friendly conversation and avoids the hassle of standing in line for a buffet.

Food Trucks This ever-popular culinary fashion has become a big hit at weddings, whether it is the main food attraction or the anticipated late night snack. Similar to a buffet, a wedding can have one food truck for a small treat, while having two or three gives guests options for their dinner entrée.

F

or bride Amanda, she never thought she’d want to get married without having her late father by her side; but when Frankie came along she knew she had met the love of her life, and that no matter what, her father would be with her in spirit. It was that same loving spirit that was present on Amanda and Frankie’s February wedding, filled with love and happiness. Amanda carried pictures of her father, grandfather and grandparents with her lush and blooming bouquet for her special day. She looked and felt like a gorgeous bride in her princess ballgown with lace sleeves, tiara, and mantilla train, while Frankie was a handsome groom in his white dinner jacket, black Stetson, and matching boots with the wedding date and “Auxilio! Help!” hilariously written on the soles. At Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mission, Amanda’s stepfather was honored to walk her down the aisle as mariachis serenaded throughout the traditional Catholic ceremony, which united her and Frankie as husband and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Garcia exited the church to confetti canons before making their way to the ballroom reception, a luxurious and elegant celebration where abundant white florals decorated the mirrored tables, and pops of royal purples and ruby red added a unique flair. During the reception dinner, vivacious mariachis performed followed by folklorico starring the bride’s niece! After a special presentation honoring family who have passed on, Amanda and Frankie danced their first dance. The celebration continued well into the night with Lucky Joe, a friend to Frankie, served as MC and the party’s entertainment. There was dancing, laughter, delicious vanilla and chocolate cake, and late-night pan dulce, a perfect and memorable night for Amanda and Frankie, whose families that were lifelong friends before were now joined as one. Life couldn’t be more perfect.

M

odern couples have their pick when it comes to wedding locations, and one more popular choice is the outdoor venue. With many couples choosing to move their celebration al frescodécor options, logistics, and attire are all moving away from super traditional, and adopting a more natural, whimsical feel.

Popular outdoor décor includes rustic farm tables, sturdier seating, large billowy arches and arbors and other natural structures. The use of wine barrels, assorted lanterns and eclectic lighting, as well as birch branches, tree stumps, leaves, rocks, and pine cones are all being incorporated into these types of weddings. If your outdoor venue has several spots to enjoy or if your ceremony and reception are being held on opposites sides of the property chalkboard and hand lettered signs have also become a cute addition to event décor. While being outdoors can pose some challenges, many couples have come up with fun and innovative solutions; such as sweet treat tables that don’t sit out all night, food stations with attendants, fire pits and pashminas for colder weather, and bug spray buckets and hand fans for warmer climates. Weather will always be a factor when choosing your outdoor venue so it is advisable to have a backup plan. Have a tent on standby with a local rental company should it rain, have parasols and cold beverages readily available to keep guests from overheating, rent or buy propane tower heaters and check with your venue if they can accommodate your party indoors should the need arise. Outdoor weddings come in varying degrees from a fun fairytale forest fiesta, to a sunny beachside soiree modern couples are straying further and further away from what was once considered “traditional” and are making these unique events their own.

Sand And Surf For A Beach Wedding BEACH VENUE

C

lear blue skies, light sea breeze in the air, warm sand under your feet as you walk down the aisle to the love of your life…

Yes, it is your wedding day on a gorgeous beach overlooking ocean waters! With the summer months just around the corner, brides in the Rio Grande Valley are finalizing the last details for their upcoming nuptials. Some couples will be having their celebration on the lovely shores of South Padre Island, Texas, a tropical destination close to home! The Texas Gulf Coast has been a very popular choice for summer brides and grooms who can’t get enough of the sand and surf. South Padre Island has prided itself on being the summer hot spot for vacation, weekend getaways, and special events. The stunning views of early sunrises and playful waves have been the inspiration for many

great venues and restaurants to open their doors so that you can enjoy all that is South Padre Island. Wedding and event venues on SPI have fabulous packages that give you great options such as a ceremony on the beach, a memorable photo session at various landmarks that dot the island, and, of course, fresh seafood for your reception meal. Nevertheless, the biggest reason South Padre Island is the choice for beach weddings is that it is right in our own backyard. And you don’t have to worry about traveling immediately after the reception is over because you can relax in one of the many excellent hotels and simply bask in the sunlight and dip your toes in the water, even while you’re still in your wedding dress! No need to bring out the passports or the travel guide- South Padre Island is the perfect setting for you to be wed amongst the ocean waters and charming seashells; shoes are optional.

N

estled on a hill overlooking Starr County ranch land, Capilla del Río was the perfect setting for Corine and Alejandro’s celebration. The couple shares a love of the outdoors and a rustic, vintage aesthetic was perfectly reflected in their choice of venue. Lanterns and twinkling lights lined the aisle down to the picturesque pond where the couple joined together before God, family, and close friends. The bride wore a classic lace embellished long sleeve gown with a train and draped tulle veil. Her cascading bouquet was echoed in her flowered hairpiece. Two dear friends of the bride accompanied the ceremony on violin and viola. Back at the main house, hydrangeas and burlap bedecked farm tables where dinner was served to the swinging rhythms of a jazz trio. As night began to fall, Corine and Alex took to the floor for their first dance as a married couple. Toasty s’mores, warm blankets, and a sparkler send-off added to the crisp fall atmosphere. The couple was escorted out to the strains of Mariachi Siete Leguas, off to start their greatest adventure as man and wife.

The Art Behind The Beat REYNALDO SALAZAR

DJ ART DJ MOBILE SERVICE

I

ARTURO CANTU JR

n 1991, DJ Art became a reality during my Senior year in college at the University of Texas of Pan American. My style as a DJ is simple, you adapt to your audience by knowing who your audience is and what they like. Not everyone enjoys the same type of music and as a DJ, you need to know the different genres of music and be able to adapt quickly to ensure that everyone’s taste is complimented and that everyone has a great time. When looking for a DJ, I am unique. I take the time to listen and meet with my clients before the big event to understand their needs and wants. Together we plan the event and design a program that is tailored to their style. Building rapport and establishing a working relationship with my clients is important to me. Anybody can just play music, but not everybody takes the time to listen and customize a program that compliments the needs and wants of the client. As a plus, I speak both English and Spanish and pride myself in always being professionally dressed in a tuxedo. My services include emcee services, intelligent light show, sound system, vast variety of music tailored to your event, marquee lights and a projector monogram. As an added bonus to my clients and future clients, I have been endorsed by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. So, when looking for a professional DJ, you can rest assured that I will work hard to exceed your expectations and that at the end of the event, you will walk away with a big smile knowing that you had the time of your life. I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of your special event.

n the twelve years we’ve known each other, Jaime and I have found that we complement each other and are each other’s equal. From our first meeting as fifteen year olds in concurrent enrollment programs, attending the former UTPA, and reconnecting at Texas A&M University, it has never been a dull moment between us. Jaime and I wanted our wedding to reflect our fun personalities, and the special day was perfect, from our Catholic ceremony to our ballroom reception filled with dancing and surrounded by our family and friends. It was a celebration with memories that we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives.

ason and I were in McAllen spending our first Christmas together with my family. On the morning of Christmas Eve he comes into the room to wake me up to exchange gifts. Even though I mentioned we normally open gifts with the entire family, he was very eager and didn’t want to wait. So I follow him downstairs and he gives me a small wrapped gift, saying “I got you something that you wanted.” I opened it to find a plastic “diamond” ring, to which he said “You wanted a ring on your finger…Do you like it?” I laughed at Jason’s little joke, but before I could respond to his antics I looked up to find him getting on one knee. At that moment I realized he was no longer joking, especially when he pulled out another box, asking me to marry him! The celebrations began when my family arrived shortly, and we ended up spending Christmas together as a newly engaged couple. It was the best Christmas gift I could have ever wanted.

S

amuel and I met working the night shift at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in August 2011. I was a new nurse and Samuel helped train me in the MedSurg department. Since I had just started my first nursing job, I was not looking to start a relationship, especially in the workplace. My dad had just passed away in June 2012 and Samuel was there for me when I needed someone. Our first date was Tuesday, October 7, 2012. We decided on a casual date of dinner and a movie. From that day forward our relationship and love flourished. We went on numerous trips, spent countless birthdays together, and watched more movies than I can remember. One June 7th we took a one day trip to San Antonio to watch comedian Steve Trevino. His comedy show was entitled “Till Death Do Us Part.” Later did I know that I really would be saying “Till Death Due Us Part” to my one an only. Samuel proposed after the comedy show and I was elated to say “YES” and be his future wife.

wo young adults enjoying their fun college lives found themselves crossing paths during a fateful 2012 Spring Break trip at South Padre Island. Stephanie and Marco, who met through mutual friends, had an instant connection and became friends, finding many similar interests together, until they became an official couple a year later. Throughout the next few years they became each other’s cheerleaders, Stephanie supporting Marco as he ventured outside the Rio Grande Valley for education and career, and Marco in turn showing Stephanie everything the world has to offer and encouraging her to achieve her dreams. Fast forward to September 2018 when Stephanie had acquired a new career position and had just returned home from San Antonio for training. Happy to be together again, she and Marco went out for a lovely dinner before returning to Marco’s home. Aware of Stephanie’s long-time wish for a private, intimate proposal, Marco did exactly that and proposed to her at home, asking the love of his life to marry him with no audience but each other. It was a perfect moment that Stephanie said “Yes!” to without hesitation. Despite almost two years of planning and postponing their wedding, Stephanie and Marco are looking forward to finally tying the knot in November 2020 and becoming Mr. & Mrs. Garcia.

S

teven and Brittany grew up in the same church not knowing their paths would cross down the road; it was not until the Fall of 2018 when their love story began. Brittany had recently returned home from college and attended a young adult’s gathering at their church where she was greeted by Steven upon entering. That night they grabbed dinner with mutual friends and hit it off! Steven and Brittany became a couple on November 9, 2018. The next year was filled with great memories! Steven and Brittany realized their mutual love for running, watching movies (with popcorn and cheese, of course), and participating in their church community. On December 21, 2019 Steven planned a Christmas Party at his home where all their family and friends were gathered. Through the ruse of a game, he blindfolded Brittany, took her by the hand, and led her into his beautifully lit backyard. It was there where he got down on one knee and asked the big question: “Brittany, will you marry me?” After a swift “YES!” from Brittany, fireworks lit up the night sky, adding to the truly perfect moment.

O

ur love story began in May 2016 when Rolando and I were introduced by a family member. We officially started dating just ten months later and have been inseparable since. Three years later Rolando decided to take our relationship to the next step, and created an unforgettable and emotional proposal. On June 22, 2019, Rolando took me out for a dinner date but we came back to the house because he “forgot” his wallet. After arriving we went to the backyard and were welcomed by our parents, grandparents, immediate family members, and closest friends. Rolando and his family had organized a beautiful intimate set up in their backyard for me, where he got on one knee in front of our loved ones and asked me to marry him. Our engagement has been a lovely and unforgettable chapter. We have loved every minute of it and are very excited to become one and enjoy the rest of our lives together. We give God the glory for uniting us and making us better together…

first met Nico at a Halloween party where he introduced himself then disappeared before I could respond! A few weeks later we reconnected and became inseparable, eventually becoming a couple in the summer of 2014 during a trip to Florida. Throughout our relationship we have attended college, completed graduate school, established our careers, and even became dog parents together. Our lives have been filled with adventure. The biggest adventure came on August 7, 2019, while hiking the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet, British Columbia, when Nico proposed to me with the exact diamond his grandfather proposed to his grandmother with in 1963! It was a perfect, unexpected proposal filled with love and adventure – just like how our story began. While our lives have changed dramatically throughout these 6 years, our love and commitment to one another has not. We thank you all for your unconditional love, support, and friendship throughout the years. We hope you are able to join us on our biggest adventure yet.
