A GUIDE TO VALENCIA ENGLISH-SPEAKERS IN THE CITY por Lucy Rawlings

A

s a city which averages over 300 days of sunshine per year and is an incredible mix of traditional and modern, Valencia is quickly emerging to be one of the trendiest destinations in Europe. As a relatively undiscovered city in comparison to the popular expat destinations of Barcelona and Alicante, Valencia offers an authentic experience whilst still being a vibrant cosmopolitan city.

GETTING AROUND Valencia is a well-connected city, with a fully functioning bus and metro service, as well as a tram line going all the way to the 44 VALENCIACITY PRIMAVERA/VERANO

beach Using Cabify, Valencia’s version of Uber, is also a convenient way to get from A to B. However, the best way to take in the city is to explore it for yourself by either walking or cycling. If you are here for a week or so, try out Valenbisi, an eco-friendly and convenient bike-sharing service, which has over 275 docking stations around the city. It helps that the whole city is plentifully bestrewn with bike lanes which are safe and easy to navigate! Just purchase a short-term card at one of their automated terminals, check out a bike and off you go - simply return the bike at the next Valenbisi kiosk you see. There are

also beautiful pedestrian zones, particularly around the Ciutat Vella (old city), El Carmen, and the barrio of El Cabanyal where you can appreciate the huge variety of street art on show.

TOP THINGS TO DO The must-see areas in Valencia include: El Miguelete, the Gothic-style octagonal bell tower which boasts one of the most stunning views over the Old
