It’s always good to hear about local businesses working together, especially when they have linked up through Vale Life Magazine! Here technological expertise combines with old school craftsmanship to create an impressive new website for a local decorating firm...
nlike many craftsmen working in traditional trades Michael Simmonds has always been quick to embrace new technology and has had a company website displaying his firm’s painting and decorating services for many years (www.msimmonds.co.uk). Feeling it was time to update his digital marketing, Mick was looking for someone who could take on the project, when he read a feature on Shared creative, an Aylesbury based website design and marketing company run by Ian Collett and Stuart Miller, in Vale Life Magazine last October. The client: M. Simmonds “We’ve had a website for about 12 years,” says Mick, “and it was looking a bit dated. It needed a facelift, so I contacted Ian and Stuart to discuss designing a new site that better reflected the character and qualities of our business. “The Shared creative lads have been great. They are full of good ideas and were able to get the job done in a reasonable timescale and on budget. I would definitely recommend their services. “We wanted the site to reassure potential clients, both domestic and commercial, that M. Simmonds is the company to choose and to show that although we have over 35 years experience and a team of fully qualified staff, we are always looking forward and continue to invest in young people, offering apprenticeships to ensure the future of our business and our trade. “I am now delighted with the new site, it is a real ‘showcase’ for the business and I think our professionalism comes across well. Potential clients will enjoy clicking through, as it is informative but not over the top and it is easy to appreciate the key elements on which our service is based: quality, reliability, care and trust. “Browsing the website should reassure potential clients, that in choosing us as their decorator and/or refurbishment contractor they are choosing one of the best in the business and that everything will be in safe hands, from the moment of first contact right though to contract completion and our first

The designer: SHARED creative “Mick telephoned us after seeing our advertorial in Vale Life (Sept/Oct edition),” says Stuart Miller, of Shared creative. “He explained that his current website was looking outdated and that he found it difficult to work with and upload new information and pictures. We arranged for Ian and I to visit him at his office to talk through his requirements. Mick was keen to stick with his existing logo and colour scheme, so noting this and taking a brief away with us, we then produced a proposal document outlining
design options, costs and training plan. “Mick was happy with the price and plan so SHARED creative got to work producing a visual/mock up of how the website could look. He seemed really pleased with the design and after a few minor changes we started the website build, liaising with Mick throughout and providing him with updates on progress. “Mick was keen for the site to be live before Christmas, so we pulled out all the stops and had the website up and running within four weeks. This included liaising with his current website/hosting supplier on his behalf so he didn’t have to get involved. “Once the website was live a training session was arranged to show Mick how to update the website himself. He’s now able to add new pages with ease and can create upto-date case studies with photographs of jobs and projects his firm has worked on. “The transition of the website and email from Mick’s previous supplier to SHARED creative has been seamless, so Mick was able to get on with the day-to-day running of his company without any website worries. l SHARED creative, Verna House, 9 Bicester Road, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP19 9AQ Tel: 01296 346346 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Website: http://sharedcreative.co.uk
