Ensuring a perfect fit nice feature. It also comes anti-moth treated for peace of mind! Grey is probably the most popular colour at the moment, it’s taken over from beige! David stocks a varied selection at Charles Huntington: “We can supply pretty well anything a customer might request,” says David, “but we also like to inspire with designer carpets and flooring that are a little different and which you don’t find at larger suppliers. We offer a wide range of standard styles - something for all tastes and budgets - but we’ve made an effort to source some interesting alternatives. I’ve got carpets here from great value budget weaves to tufted silk at over £200 a square metre!” I’d given David rough measurements but he wisely came to the house to check them and then took care of ordering for us. The carpet arrived within days and David kindly stored it in his warehouse while we prepared the rooms with a little decluttering and decorating! A date was set and David and his assistant Jordan arrived and set to removing some of the larger bits of furniture and dismantling the bed. The process was quickly and efficiently executed and within an hour new underlay was down and the carpet was being laid. They did two bedrooms for us in a few hours and even took a door outside to shave a little off the bottom edge, as it was uneven and rubbing the new carpet. The furniture was soon reinstated and the carpets looked fantastic. All was done with minimum fuss and no mess - they didn’t even require a cup of tea! We couldn’t be happier, the new carpets are lovely. This was a small job for David who has laid huge conference rooms and bedrooms at top

hotels plus many private homes, big and small over the years. “I laid the carpet at the Hindu Temple in Neasden once,” he says, “it nearly killed me! It was a huge job, very complicated with numerous panels of carpet to be matched up. It looked stunning when it was finished though!” David set up Charles Huntington Flooring

Perfect or should I say ‘Parfait’ in 2010: “I supply and advise on carpet and floorings,” says David, “but I still enjoy going out and personally ensuring the job is laid down correctly - ‘a carpet’s only as good as the person who fitted it’ they say in the trade!” David has been busy with the trend for stair runners and striped carpet and has recently become an exclusive local supplier for Off The Loom stair runners, rugs and accessories. The company weaves lovely contemporary runners

in bright bold colours, which come in a range of widths, or made to measure if required. “We are experienced in templating stair runners with turns and half landings,” says David. “We offer a variety of finishes: binding tape, blind stitching, or whipping - we’ve also a good selection of stair rods and stair clips. “We stock quite a range of flooring here from brands such as: Cormar, Brockway Carpets, Victoria Carpets, Weston Hammer, Alternative Flooring, Jacaranda, Crucial Trading, Karndean... something for all pockets and tastes. “We do a good range of sisal as well Crucial Trading have a great selection. It gives you a nice crisp clean look. We can make rugs with it too. Sometimes a customer will have wood flooring laid in the hall and then we’ll make a sisal rug with bound edges to go on top. Rugs can be made with any carpet and to any size and then neatly finished with stitched edging.” David is always happy to visit a customer at home, if they prefer, but I’d recommend going to have a browse around the showroom - so you can feel the samples! Take your paint swatches down and have a look. David is happy to chat over the options and you’ll get good honest advice from someone who really does know what he’s talking about. l Charles Huntington Flooring, 23 Duck Farm Court, Station Way, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 2SQ.
