BMHS ≠ EVHS ≠ RCHS ≠ VCHS ≠ VM S ≠ NAS ≠ VSSA

Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy roundup! VSSA is the first public winter sports academy in the United States. It offers students in grades 5-12 the opportunity to train 6 days per week in the winter months through flexible scheduling and online interface. Here’s a look at some of the adventures awaiting the Class of 2012 — and it’s not all about the snow.

By John LaConte < KATHARINE IRWIN Katharine has deferred attendance to University of Denver while she continues to train, travel and compete with the US Ski Team. She will be spending five months this summer living in Park City, Utah, in an apartment with friends. When Katharine attends DU she plans to explore a major in business while she continues her skiing career as a ski racer.

JULIA COOPER > Julia will be attending Columbia this fall in New York City. Living in The Big Apple, she plans to stay in the college dorms and explore different interests, including engineering, art and other sciences. Julia plans to continue finding ways to fuel her passion for horseback riding while living in such a unique and culturally diverse environment.

< PAULA MOLTZAN Paula is looking forward to a post-grad year while competing and traveling with the US Ski Team. She will be living in an apartment with friends, including Katharine Irwin, in Park City, Utah. Paula will look into taking some classes at Westminister College and ultimately pursue a career in medicine.

ALEKSEI HORN > Aleksei be attending California Polytechnic State University, or Cal Poly, located in San Luis Obispo, California, to pursue a career in architecture.

< COLIN HAYES Colin has deferred attendance to Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. He plans to use this time to further his academic, athletic and volunteering interests. He is currently exploring the world of engineering while furthering his skiing goals at the club level for the following year. This club-level participation is geared towards him becoming a better athlete for the Middlebury College Alpine Ski Team. Colin will be volunteering throughout the community to both grow as a person and to sample a multitude of activities in order to find what it is he really wants to pursue academically.
