The report was published in 2011 and funded by ESMIG (European Smart Metering Industry Group). The report is based on a study into the potential of smart meter enabled programs to increase energy and systems efficiency.
Selected key findings from the report
- Informative billing has lowered consumption rates anywhere between 1% and 12%.
- Informative websites have lowered consumption between 0.5% and 17%.
- The success of any smart tech device included in this study and its related programs depends on the ability to meet the needs of the customers. The customer needs to be in focus and the technology needs to be adapted – it is merely a ‘tool’.
