Pointer Coaches

S

et to begin her ninth season at the helm of the UW-Stevens Point volleyball program, head coach Stacey White continues to take strides to return the program back into the top half of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) standings. White enters the 2009 season with the second-most wins in UW-Stevens Point history with 123, behind only legendary coach Nancy Schoen, who led the Pointers to their only conference championship in 1981. White holds a career mark of 123-148. The 2008 Pointers struggled to a 12-23 record in the always difficult WIAC, where four of the conference’s nine teams qualified for the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Prior to last season, White led the Pointers to back-to-back 20-plus win seasons and fourth place finishes in the WIAC.

White, a Monticello, Minn. native, was the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. prior to coming to UW-Stevens Point. She graduated from UW-River Falls in 1998 with a degree in Health and Human Performance and added a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota while coaching at Concordia. White has also coached two junior Olympic squads, leading the 18-and-under St. Croix Valley team and the 16-and-under Club Tonka squad in Minnetonka, Minn.
