Instruction is sequential and planned to develop and improve performance skills, to impart knowledge and concepts relevant to the activity, to introduce information concerning the fitness and health benefits of regular exercise, and to help students to develop and maintain physical fitness. These courses also provide opportunities for multi-cultural learning and socialization. Beginner through advanced level classes are provided in many activities. Most classes are 1 credit and meet 2 times per week for 1 hour during the standard academic year. A majority of a student’s grade for a PEAC class will be based on class participation and attendance, but there is also an emphasis on skill development and knowledge growth. For a complete list of classes offered please visit the Campus Recreation website @ www.uvm.edu/recreation and click on “PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PEAC)” ** NOTE: Effective for the 2009-2010 academic year we will no longer offer CREDIT BY EXAM as a means of obtaining PEAC credit.
