A nna and Israel met while Anna was a Swedish exchange student at Israel’s high school in Oregon in 1997. Anna had a crush on Israel throughout her whole exchange year, but didn’t go on a date together until her last week in the US before heading home to Sweden. That summer, Israel left to
backpack around Europe and Anna
went home to Sweden. Throughout the whole summer Israel sent Anna postcards from all over Europe with funny poems and rhymes.
They stayed in touch by writing
letters (pre e-mail!) and in the summer of 1999 Anna went back to Oregon to v i s i t h e r h o st fa m i l y a n d f r i e n d s (especially one friend in particular). She was supposed to stay for three weeks... but ended up staying fo r t h re e m o n t h s . Th e re s t i s h i s to r y !
