Learn how regenerative medicine (RM) may hold the potential to bring (human and animal) therapies from the lab into the clinic. The convergence of science, technology and medicine in Utrecht are highlighted in this week-long course. This course is comprised of meeting experts, patients, hands-on bench work, and demonstrations. The objective of this 2-week intensive course in laboratory animal science is to present basic facts and principles that are essential for the human use and care of animals and for the quality of research. When you successfully complete the basic course with the integrated species-specific course ‘rodents and rabbits’ you will be competent to design procedures and projects and to execute simple procedures on these animals. Diagnostic Avian and Exotic Animals Pathology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UU) In this course the student is trained to perform post-mortem diagnostics based on protocols, and to formulate, based on this diagnosis, the pathogenesis, the etiology and significance of the pathological conclusion for the contact animals. The necropsied animals are sent in by zoos and private owners. After the necropsy and discussion with the pathologist the student will contact the referring veterinarian. The veterinarian will be informed about the results and conclusion of the necropsy. The student writes a report and sends it to the pathology resident.
