THINK PINK! In October, Zeta Tau Alpha’s at the University of Tennessee love wearing their pink around campus and around Knoxville. Our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, keeps us busy during Breast cancer awareness month! This year, Zeta chapter “Painted the Campus Pink” by setting up a booth on pedestrian walkway and shared information with our classmates. We had the privilege of working with other sororities and fraternities to hand out ribbons and encourage race participation. Zetas also attended Pink Out Games. This year, we had a volleyball tournament and a soccer game that was pinked out for breast cancer awareness. Members sold pom-poms and got the opportunity to watch the ladies in pink!

RACE FOR THE CURE Every year, Zeta Tau Alpha volunteers at Susan G. Komen’s Knoxville Race for the Cure. We have the honor of working the survivor’s tent and lending a hand wherever needed. Some of our sisters ran the race, and many of us cheered on the survivors as they crossed the finish line. 2012 Race for the Cure was a success!

New Member Retreat

New Members spent a weekend away in Gatlinburg this month to get to know one another better. They spent the night in a cabin and had a big sleepover. The girls made bonds with their new sisters as they did silly games and shared secrets.

BIG SIS REVEAL Welcome to the Family! Big Sis Reveal was held on Thursday, Sept. 27 in the ZTA suite. The new members had been receiving presents and other goodies throughout the week by their mysterious bigs. Each big had the chance to sign up for a Disney Character to dress up as and leave clues about that character in the little’s presents. The new members were practicing for their lip sync performance when their bigs had the chance to reveal themselves! Little did they know that tons of presents were waiting for them in Laurel, the sorority residence hall. Many of the families went out to dinner and celebrated their new additions to our Zeta families!

Lip Sync Every year the new member class has the opportunity to compete in a dancing competition against other sororities. Each group had a different word they had to represent. Zeta Tau Alpha had the word, “Name”. The girls danced to a medley of different songs, such as “Say my Name” by Beyoncé and “Last Name” by Carrie Underwood. The new members worked hard and placed as “Crowd Pleasers”! The other chapter members got to cheer on their sisters as they danced and sang along in the audience.

Founders’ Day

Zeta Tau Alpha sorority

was founded on October 15, 1898. Zeta Chapter celebrated our founders’ day at the Orangery. Members ate dinner, participated in a ceremony and even won awards! Nine chapter members were selected as our nine founders and received a gift. Founders’ Day dinner is a wonderful time to remember why we chose to be sisters of such a wonderful organization devoted to love and friendship.

Initiation Initiation was held in a church in downtown Knoxville on Oct. 21. Zeta chapter loves

having their initiation during the same month our founders created Zeta Tau Alpha! After the initiation ceremony, the newly initiated

members spent time together and got presents from their bigs!

Parent’s Weekend Parent’s Weekend was held on Oct. 20 when Tennessee football played against Alabama. Parents and Alumni came out to our tailgate in Fiji Island for BBQ and hotdogs. Our sisterhood chair, Kellie Wilburn, made a sisterhood event prior to the tailgate where members created corn hole boards with ZTA crowns on them. Sisters had a great time showing their parent’s around UT!
