Divided into 26 blocks - House Staff Medicine: 8 - Ambulatory Care: 8-9 - MICU: 2 - Night Float: 1-2 - Cardiology: 2 - Electives: 3-4 - EBM1: 1 - Vacation: 3 weeks (plus holiday schedule)


HOUSE STAFF MEDICINE 

3 HSM teams  1 senior, 2-3 interns, 1-2 M3s, 1 M4, and pharmacy resident  2 or 4 week blocks  Census 12-15 patients  EMR with Dragon voice recognition software 

Only day admits, separate NF rotation


AMBULATORY BLOCK 

Resident clinic  AM and PM Clinics  On site Venipuncture  2 IT support staff  14 exam rooms Sub-specialty Clinics  PGY-1 (Nephrology, Cardiology, GI, and Oncology)  PGY-2 (Cards Diagnostics, Palliative, Hematology, ID, Rheum, Women’s Health)  PYG-3 (Allergy, Endocrinology, REACT, and Hem/Onc, Cardiology) Team Based Learning  Online ambulatory modules  Pathways  CODE BLUE Simulations  Bedside Procedure simulations


CRITICAL CARE 

Two MICU services  

Each team with 1 attending, 2 residents, and 1-2 interns ICU pharmacist

ICU Nurse Practitioners 

Residents able to work within integrative healthcare provider model


INTERNATIONAL/TRAVEL MEDICINE ELECTIVE  

Residents may arrange international clinical experiences typically lasting 2-4 wks 2017: resident volunteered w/ ATLAS International Elective in Mbale, Uganda


ELECTIVE IN MBALE, UGANDA 3 days a week inpatient wards, 2 days outpatient  Your role involves supervising medical students and interns.  LOTS of procedures  LOTS of critically ill patients  Travel/vacation on weekends 

RED CROSS VOLUNTEER AT UT VOLS GAMES 

Each home game there is approximately 100,000 fans in Neyland Stadium. The Red Cross provides medical coverage for fans. The volunteer program allows residents free access to games, food/beverage ticket, free parking, and one guest, in return for your medical knowledge (if needed) during the game.
