THE OFFICE OF CAREER SERVICES TEAM

The Office of Career Services serves as a bridge between students' college experience and life after UT. Starting with students' first year at UT and continuing beyond their graduation, we are here to help students explore who they are and their career options, connect their experience — whether it is academic, campus involvement and engagement, internships, or work experience, to careers or graduate school – and achieve their post-graduation goals.

On behalf of the Office of Career Services, we would like to give a special acknowledgement to Grace Mercer, marketing and advertising intern, for her work on this publication. UNDERGRADUATE OUTCOMES Executive Summary: Data from fifty-seven percent (56.8%) of the 2020 undergraduate degree recipients were collected from online surveys, faculty, employers, and other verifiable information sources in accordance with the National Associatiion of College and Employers' First Destination Standards. (56.8% knowledge rate based upon data obtained for 1012 out of 1781 total graduates.)

Immediate Plans 94.3% of respondents from the undergraduate Class of 2020 survey (May, Aug., Dec. graduates) reported success in achieving their post-graduate goals. 5.7% were still seeking ful l-time employment.

CAREER SERVICES INTERNS "As a marketing intern at the Office of Career Services, I was able to work on creating the first annual report to showcase the wonderful things the office does each year to support the university and its students. In addition, I assisted in the creation of marketing tools such as flyers, social media posts and newsletters. In May 2022, I will be moving to Washington D.C. to pursue a career in politics, specifically working in fundraising and finance."

"While at the Office of Career Services I designed content for social media platforms for over 40 career services events per semester and executed multi-level social media campaigns to showcase career resources. I created email content for students, faculty, alumni and employers to highlight weekly offerings and encourage event participation. My goal as a marketing intern was to increase student engagement and provide information via digital media and advertisements around campus. Starting in January 2022 I will be working for The Walt Disney Company doing customer engagement planning."

OLIVIA REEBER B.A. MARKETING - MINOR IN COMMUNICATIONS CLASS OF 2021 "As a marketing/advertising intern at the Office of Career Services, I worked primarily on marketing efforts and student-facing communications. I created weekly newsletters sharing upcoming events and featured jobs. I helped market the office’s events by creating promotional materials, such as flyers, and pushing event information through multiple channels—many university-specific channels, as well as through emails and on social media. Starting in January I will be working as a graphic designer at Vistaprint, as well as getting my M.A. in Social and Emerging Media from The University of Tampa."

STUDENT HIGHLIGHT UPSANA JOSHI '21 "As an international student, I found it very difficult to find a great internship opportunity. I started my search early on and made it a priority to attend almost every career fair and networking event conducted by the Office of Career Services.

"I was appointed at “Amgen” as a summer intern for the Tampa location. Amgen is an American multinational biopharmaceutical company, headquartered in California. It aims to serve patients by transforming its advanced knowledge of science and technology.

"At Amgen, I had the opportunity to work with the Global ERP department and join the product team that aims to continuously work towards innovation, automation and modernization of the platform. Creation of dashboard, managing the financial workstreams, assisting in the formulation of plans and policies, and communicating it with stakeholders were some of my daily tasks.

"The internship did not only boost my confidence but also enhanced my communication and technical skills along with the opportunities to network with different professionals and earn educational certifications.

"I am grateful to The University of Tampa Office of Career Services for being dedicated to providing extraordinary opportunities to help both me and other students achieve their goals!"

EXPERTISE AND TECHNOLOGY QUINNCIA In 2019, The University of Tampa implemented Quinccia. Quinncia is an ATS (applicant tracking system) and AI (artificial intelligence) based mock interview platform.

The AI mock interview technology supports students' preparation for both in-person and virtual interviews, critical to the ever-changing talent management strategies of today’s employers. Quinncia analyzes the video, audio, and content of the interview and resume, to provide real time feedback for students and alumni.

As an early adopter, UT Career Services staff have worked closely with the founder, Himal Ahuja, and his team, on the development of the platform, specifically in key areas including reporting, competency tracking, and feedback.

Academic integration of Quinncia includes:

Sport management, marketing, psychology, and professional communication classes

Sales institute and professional selling — undergraduate and graduate classes

TRUMOTIVATE During the academic year 2020-2021, The University of Tampa partnered with TruMotivate to serve as a beta school to test a one-of-a-kind motivations assessment for college students. The Office of Career Services coordinated this partnership in alignment with Career Services, Student Leadership and Engagement, Student Transition and Persistence, the Student Affairs Division, and overall University goals.

Motivations are critical because they serve as the underlying emphasis for how and why students express and use their values, interests, personality, strengths, and skills toward career decisions. Identifying career goals is important because having post-graduation goals is a correlative factor in student retention and persistence.

136 students, ranging from freshmen to seniors, representing a diverse range of students, and all four UT colleges, took the TruMotivate assessment and participated in staff and student-led interpretation workshops.
