Game Notes • Tennessee vs. Georgia • Feb. 21, 2011 TONIGHT’S GAME

The #4/4-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols (25-2, 13-0 SEC) can win the regular season SEC title outright tonight with a win over the red shot Georgia Lady Bulldogs (20-6, 10-3 SEC) in Thompson-Boling Arena on Feb. 21, 2011 in a 7 p.m. matchup on ESPN2. This will be the “Pink Zone” contest for breast cancer awareness, titled “Think Pink. Bleed Orange.” UT will be looking for its 17th consecutive win of the season and 25th consecutive SEC win dating back to last season. In the SEC pre-season Media Day polls, Tennessee was picked to finish #1 by both the coaches and the media while Georgia was slated to finish #4 by the coaches and #4 by the media in league play.

THINGS TO KNOW • Tonight is UT’s Pink Zone game, an initiative of the WBCA to promote breast cancer awareness. UT has dubbed the game “Think Pink. Bleed Orange.” Four breast cancer survivors will be Lady Vol guest coaches tonight. The University Breast Center Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the arena from 5-7 p.m. By way of 12,000 t-shirts in the seats of the arena, the words ‘Live Pink’ will be spelled out. Additionally, the Tennessee Army National Guard will distribute pink wristbands. ‘Live Pink’ Bleed Orange shirts will be available at the merchandise stands on the concourse, with proceeds benefiting the UT Cancer Institute. • Tennessee clinched at least a share of the SEC regular season crown with the win over South Carolina on Feb. 17. UT now has three regular season games remaining...home games against Georgia (Feb. 21) and LSU (Feb. 27) and at Ole Miss (Feb. 24). • Georgia is the last SEC team to defeat Tennessee taking a 53-50 decision in Athens last season. • Tennessee enters the game with Georgia sporting the nation’s number three strength of schedule and the fourth best RPI. Georgia has an RPI of 24 and a strength of schedule at 39. • Two Lady Vols take career double-figure scoring averages against Georgia into the game. Junior Glory Johnson averages 17.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg while redshirt junior Kelley Cain averages 11.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 4.0 rejections per outing. • In SEC games only, UT is winning by +23.5 ppg margin. • The victory over Florida on Feb. 10, 2011, was the 300th SEC league win all-time for the Lady Vols. UT owns a league best record of 302-40 (.879) against all SEC teams dating back to the 1982-83 season. • Tennessee owns a 440-66 record all-time record vs. 12 teams from the SEC. UT maintains a winning record against every team in the SEC. • Tennessee eclipsed 100,000 fans at home on Jan. 9 against Ole Miss for an amazing 17th consecutive year. The Lady Vols currently average a nation leading 12,649 fans per home game in 2010-11 in 13 home games as 164,433 have clicked through the turnstiles. • Against Kentucky on Feb. 10, the Lady Vols went to double-digit victories in SEC play for a record 17th time. The victory over the Wildcats was Tennessee’s 10th on the season in SEC play. Last season, the Lady Vols won 15 games in the expanded SEC slate. All-time, the Lady Vols have registered double-digit victories in conference play since the 1991-92 season when SEC play first expanded, the Lady Vols have won at least 10 games in the following 17 years: 1992-10 wins, 1993-11 wins, 1994-11 wins, 1995-11 wins, 1998-14 wins, 1999-13 wins, 2000-13 wins, 2001-14 wins, 2002- 13 wins, 2003-14 wins, 2004-14 wins, 2005- 13 wins, 2006-11 wins, 2007- 14 wins, 2008-13 wins; 2010-15 wins and 2011- 13 wins -- in progress. • The game with #15/18-Kentucky was the Lady Vols fifth of the season against a ranked opponent and the first since defeating #3/2-ranked Stanford on Dec. 19, 2010. With the win over UK, UT is 3-2 vs. ranked teams this season. • Since Pat Head Summitt arrived as head coach at UT in 1974, the other 11 Southeastern Conference schools have seen a total of 68 coaches at the helm of their women’s basketball programs. Over the last 37 years, Tennessee has enjoyed one head coach for Lady Vol hoops -- Summitt. Next to Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia and Vanderbilt are the SEC programs with the next fewest head coaches over the 37 year span -- just four each.
