A Word from your Ombudsman

Take a bow, military spouses, this is your day! Military spouse appreciation day is celebrated on May, 9th 2014 this year. You may not get fireworks honored in your name today, although most days we feel we should, but take a minute to celebrate you and the triumphs military spouses overcome as a military family.

May is National Military Appreciation Month National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) is celebrated every May and is a declaration that encourages U.S. citizens to observe the month in a symbol of unity, to honor the current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those who have died in the pursuit of freedom. Friday, May 9th, 2014, traditionally set for the Friday before Mother’s Day is a day to honor military spouses with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Recognize the important role our military families play in keeping our Armed Forces strong and our country safe.

Saturday, May 17th, 2014, Celebrated the third Saturday in May every year and is a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. It honors everyone serving in the U.S. Military branches. Memorial Day Monday, May 26th, 2014, A Federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May is a remembrance of our veterans. It Commemorates the men and women who died while in military service.
