HISTORY

In November of 1988, Bobby Jones, NBA All-Star and NBA Champion, walked into Robert B. Walker’s office and expressed a need for help. Mr. Jones had recently retired from his 12-year playing career. He needed someone to help him with his business matters and all of his requests for speaking, appearances, and other sports marketing opportunities. Robert chose to help Bobby. Mr. Jones was very pleased with the first deal that Robert negotiated, and he began to tell others about Robert and his talents.

During 1988-1994 the business grew, with many athletes coming to Robert for representation. Mr. Jones and Robert grew close over the years, coaching basketball and working together at a school where Robert was the athletic director and assistant coach, winning two state championships in the process. In 1994, Robert left the school to launch US Sports, Inc. into a full-time business.

From 1994-2004 the business continued to grow. The retired players Robert represented encouraged him to use his company to help younger guys going into the league. After praying about the decision for two years, Robert said yes, and US Sports Inc. represented its first draft class in 2005.

Since then, the company has continued to grow into a fullservice sports management and marketing firm. US Sports Inc. has negotiated thousands of contracts and been a part of bringing new products and inventions to the market. What makes US Sports, Inc. unique is the marketing mix it brings to a negotiating table. Because Robert has over 35 years experience negotiating on behalf of others, he has taught people within the firm how to maximize their potential too.

Robert is currently the President and CEO of US Sports, Inc. Since beginning the company in 1988 as part-time work, Robert has negotiated over a thousand contracts. In 1994, Robert left his role as Athletic Director at Charlotte Christian School to focus his efforts on representing clients. US Sports, Inc. has grown into the largest NFL representation firm in the Carolinas under Robert’s direction over the last decade. Robert is registered as a certified NFL agent by the NFLPA.

The business of sports has been the groundwork for Robert’s professional career. He has served on the boards for both Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Sports Outreach America (SOA). He also spent a considerable amount of time coaching basketball, soccer and baseball at two different Christian schools. Products of his coaching efforts include many NCAA Division I basketball players, one NBA player, and two state championship teams. Robert Walker earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education, and a Master of Sports Science in sports management. He currently resides in Matthews, NC with his wife and two children.

Josh has been a licensed attorney for almost a decade and has transitioned to become a fulltime NFLPA certified contract advisor. He is an integral part of the US Sports, Inc. team where in addition to negotiating contracts, he works on recruiting, client development, endorsements, marketing, social media, and many other areas that ensure clients receive the highest level of support and attention. Josh worked for the UNC Football team where he earned two letters and a Peach Bowl ring. Josh has experienced success early in his career as an NFL agent as he was at the top of the list of first year agents in number of NFL contracts negotiated in his first year.

In addition to his law degree, Josh has a Masters in Business Administration and over 15 years experience in the management of a successful commercial warehousing business. He also holds a brokers license in real estate and was previously licensed in Insurance. Josh works tirelessly to ensure that each client is best prepared for life both on and off the football field and after their football careers are over. Josh resides in Cary, NC with his wife, Brianna, who has an extensive background in sports marketing, and his two children, Johnny and Sophia.

Marcus A. Ross is an attorney and owner of Marcus A. Ross, Attorney at Law, Co., LPA a full-service law firm headquartered in Columbus, OH. He has over 20 years experience handling OVI/DUI, traffic and criminal defense matters and also previously served for 10 years as General/In House Counsel and Corporate Secretary for IAP Government Services Group, Inc. a construction management firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. He currently serves as Of Counsel with the Law Firm of Walton & Brown, LLP and as Of Counsel with the Law Office of Philip A. King LLC. His areas of practice include, but are not limited to: player representation, entertainment law, criminal, traffic and DUI defense, labor & employment, landlord-tenant, collections, personal injury, construction and small business & civil litigation.

Prior to establishing his firm, he served as an Assistant City Prosecutor in the criminal division of the City Attorney’s office where he handled numerous jury trials and bench trials. He has been licensed as a member of the state of Ohio bar since 1997. He was also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 2004 and the Northern District of Ohio in 2006. He graduated from Hampton University in 1989, receiving a Bachelor of Science in finance and later received a Master of Arts in African & African American Studies from The Ohio State University in 1992. He earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 1995. Marcus is certified with the NFLPA as a contract advisor.

Erik brings valuable insight that comes from two decades of sales and marketing experience. Blessed to be working with an incredible group of people, it is Erik’s mission to provide partners with unmatched attention and care.

On a personal level, Erik was born and raised in the state of Virginia. Currently residing in North Carolina, Erik is married and has four children.
