A non-woven, pre-consumer recycled fiber acoustical material. • Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) up to 0.95 depending on configuration and open area when used in perforated/expanded systems. NRC without perforation can be achieved with laid in grid for some products. • Fire Rated as a BS476 Part 6/7 Class 1/0 Class “A” material that offers excellent thermal and acoustical performance. • Made from natural fibers, they contain no fiberglass and do not itch.

• PET (felt) material can be added in place of our traditional sound absorbing material when aesthetics matter. • 1/2” thick PET performs with an NRC up to 0.85. • 1” thick PET performs with an NRC up to 0.90. • Tested to be a Class A per ASTM E84 product for your peace of mind along with a recycled content up to 50%. • Not only does this provide superior sound absorbing performance and excellent fire resistance but you can add/ highlight your existing design by bringing colors into your space for a truly unique experience.

Recycled Material

Sustainability is an important business priority that improves USG’s efficiency between environmental responsibility and meets our customers’ needs. USG believes in being transparent about the attributes of our products’ raw ingredients and environmental impacts so that you can confidently choose to build sustainably with us. We are committed to products that are in sync with the environment and the communities in which they are designed, manufactured, distributed, and used.

Recycled content is the term used to describe the quantity of a product that was diverted from a waste stream. Recycled content can come from a variety of sources such as manufacturing waste, used newspapers, old soda cans, or even blue jean denim. USG/CGC offers an array of products that are manufactured with a diverted waste stream. Most aluminum products have a total recycled content of at least 85% (a specific finish may result in a lower recycled content). USG High Performance Acoustical Ceiling Tile products are manufactured using mineral wool, a product which typically incorporates waste products such as slag from steel manufacturing.

Dealing with construction waste is one of the world’s most environmentally taxing issue. In addition to the high costs of disposal, landfills are topping out at an alarming rate. To alleviate some of the landfill burden it is good practice to design with waste minimization in mind and USG/CGC can help. USG Ceilings Plus products are tailored for your specific space which can dramatically reduce waste materials. Multiple USG/CGC Acoustical Ceiling Tiles can be effortlessly recycled through the USG/CGC Ceilings Recycling Program. The USG/CGC Ceilings Recycling Program helps preserve natural resources by taking back approved ceiling panels from any manufacturer and recycling them into new building materials. Additionally, aluminum and steel products can be reused or easily recycled.

Certified Wood Raw materials used in USG products are carefully selected and go through a rigorous screening procedure to ensure they are safe for our customers, installers and our employees. We source wood products responsibly and believe that preserving our forests is vital to being good stewards of the environment. By offering products with an FSC certification or FSC Chain-of-Custody certification we can ensure that the wood was sourced responsibly.

Our Commitment

At USG/CGC, we are driven by our commitment to create products and services that enable you to create healthy spaces. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), exposure to indoor air pollutants may be two to five times higher than the levels usually found in outdoor air and may adversely affect health and productivity. Fortunately, there are things we can do to safeguard occupants from exposure to the more common indoor air pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method V1.2-2017 tests for VOC emissions from a product. USG uses the thirdparty certifier, UL Environment Greenguard Certification program to test for product VOC emissions to the CDPH Standard Method v1.2-2017. Greenguard Certification helps consumers choose building materials with lower VOC emissions, which improves indoor air quality.

Green Building Certification USG/CGC products contribute towards LEED v4/4.1 credits, contribute to multiple features found in the WELL Building Standard™ v3.0, and most products are free of Living Building Challenge v4.0 Red-List chemicals and can be used on Living Building Challenge Petal Certification projects. Perforations USG Ceilings Plus uses unique technology to perforate and emboss metal. Our BIM-driven equipment can perforate over 7,000 holes per minute.
