As the end of the semester approaches with final exams, projects, papers, and presentations, keep in mind there are many ways to reduce your levels of stress. In support of your well being, Graduate Student Life has several wellness activities happening during the next two weeks. Make sure to keep yourself healthy by de-stressing and reenergizing! Monday, 5/6 – Friday, 5/10 Sleep Awareness Week *Stop by SLP 401 for a sleep mask and sleeping facts! Thursday, 5/9 10 Minute Massages with Michelle 2-6pm *Must call or stop by the Graduate and Law Student Commons to make an appointment: (619) 260-2227 (Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis). Monday, 5/13 – Friday, 4/17 Healthy snack bags available in SLP 401. Tuesday, 5/14 10 Minute Massages with Michelle 10am-2pm *Must call or stop by the Graduate and Law Student Commons to make an appointment: (619) 260-2227 (Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis). Wednesday, 5/15 Final Bagel Breakfast beginning at 9:15am until the food runs out! Thursday, 5/16 Early morning run with Graduate and Law Students! Meet at Mission Point at 7:45am. May 13, 2013:  Last day to petition for Fall 2013 graduation (January 2014 degree date).\  Completed dissertation packet (PhD, EdD) and all fees and forms due in the Graduate Records Office for May 2013 graduation. Includes unbound, original manuscript and bindery receipt for other copies to be bound and distributed.  Two bound copies (or bindery receipt if thesis is not yet bound) of completed Masters thesis due in Graduate Records Office for students graduating in the spring.

May 25, 2013: Graduate (Masters and Doctoral) Commencement Ceremony Graduates must arrive in their robes to the JCP North Parking Lot by 12pm (Noon). When you arrive you must locate your space in the processional line, check in with the Marshal, and retrieve a name card from the Marshal. Please arrive early in order to allow for campus traffic and parking! *Please check out the Class of 2013 Commencement Guide and Website. June 3, 2013: First day of Summer Sessions. July 26, 2013: Deadline for completion of dissertation defense for August 2013 graduation. Cap & Gown Pick Up Info If you haven’t picked up your cap and gown yet, it is now available in the USD Torero Store. Make sure to bring your student ID with you!


University Ministry Opportunities!!  Breaking Ground: Tijuana Day Trip: Saturday, May 11 (All day)  Do you have an international service requirement? Do you have a desire to be in solidarity with our neighbors  across the border? University Ministry‐sponsored TJ day trips are a great way to do both. The trip engages  students with the community in Tijuana through a service project, home visits, a border tour, and reflection. If  you are looking to explore or grow in the values of solidarity, spirituality, social justice, and simplicity, these  trips are perfect for you. For more information, please  visit  http://www.sandiego.edu/um/service_and_social_justice/breaking_ground_monthly_tijuana_trips.php  *Sign ups began on May 1st. Email Erin Bishop at erinbishop@sandiego.edu to see if there are any spots left! 

 

Law School and Graduate Schools Graduation Masses   

Law School: May 17 (4 p.m.)  All other Graduate Schools: May 24 (3:30 p.m.)‐ Founders Chapel    Are you graduating this year from the Law School or from one of the Graduate Schools? Join the community in  prayer and thanksgiving for your time here at USD by participating in one of our Masses. We are looking  for volunteers for the different ministries (lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Hospitality Ministers, Cross bearer, and  so many more) for each Mass. If interested, please email Mary Kruer at kruerm@sandiego.edu and she will be  able to provide more information.
