• In an effort to field strong, experienced teams and to help mentor young players, USA Basketball founded the Developmental National Team program in 2009. • The DNT emcompasses all USA Basketball men’s high-school age teams and training camps, including the FIBA Americas U16 Championship, the FIBA U17 World Championship, the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, the Nike Hoop Summit and 3x3 U18 national teams. • DNT training camps are held at least twice each year, typically in October and June. • Whether they make a 12-member roster, attend camp or play in the Nike Hoop Summit, DNT players improve their leadership, teamwork and basketball skills. usabasketball.com 719-590-4800

2013 World Select Team
The 2013 World Select Team will be selected by Nike’s international scouts and announced sometime in March.

Canadian Andrew Wiggins, a 6-7 forward at Huntington Prep in West Virginia, is a favorite to make the World Team again in 2013 after helping the international squad to a win in 2012 with 20 points, including a World Team-record six 3-point attempts.
“Don’t take (the World Team) for granted,” said Duke freshman Rasheed Sulaimon. “Last year I think a lot of guys took it for granted. I believe we were better than (the World) Team, but we lost. You never want to be on the losing column, especially when you’re representing the United States. So, don’t take it for “It’s so important to go out there and get a win,” said granted. Respect your opponent and play as hard as 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving,. “I think the you can. Like I said, it’s not about any individual fame. Hoop Summit is a great experience for guys that are It’s all about winning for the United States.” coming up and labeled as NBA Draft prospects, guys that are going to be the next ones coming into our league or who want to come into the league. But (they need to) know that in order to get a win, especially against those guys over there, they’ve been playing professionally for two or three years and they’re well ahead mentally and physically, you have to just learn how to give a piece of yourself for the betterment of the team, learn how to contribute, whether you’re on the court or off the court.”
Nike Hoop Summit: Feature Story
“Enjoy it,” was NBA veteran Zach Randolph’s advice. “It was a fun time, getting to play with all the best players around the country and competing against all the foreign players. Just enjoy it and take it in for what it’s worth. Go out there and give your best and play hard because the whole world will be watching.”
“It’s not just an all-star game,” emphasized Jrue Holiday of the 76ers, who played in the 2008 Nike Hoop Summit and returned to scrimmage against the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team as a member of the USA Basketball Select Team. “Especially the Hoop Summit game, that was a good way to play against people outside of your culture, to interact with them on the court. Obviously, starting there (within USA Basketball), then you might get to do it at another level, at the highest level. Playing on the (2012 USA) Select Team, playing against them, it was an awesome to experience.”

USA Basketball At NBA All-Star
Of the 10 starters for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game, eight were USA Basketball Olympians.
“I really can’t explain what it feels like to look at it and then go back to the start of training camp in Las Vegas and up to the last game. Guys sacrificed and we were all in it for each other. That’s what this symbolizes. It’s very important to me and it’s a blessing to have this. Hopefully I’ll get another one.” - Kev in Dur ant (as told to Forbes Magazine)
“Words can’t explain what it feels like to have a USA ring. Most guys don’t accomplish this in their lifetime. For me to do it at a young age with the guys on the team was a great experience. It’s an honor to receive this ring tonight. It’s beautiful. It’s definitely going to be right next to my NCAA National Championship ring.” - A nt hon y Dav is (as told to Forbes Magazine)
U18 Gold-Medalist Julius Randle Returns For USA The USA’s top scorer and rebounder in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, Julius Randle (Prestonwood Christian Academy/McKinney, Texas) will be back in a USA jersey for the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit. Unlike last summer, which saw Randle contribute 14.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in five wins, the hoop summit is a one-game showdown. "I think the game is an example of how rich basketball is in the USA," Randle said. "It's the USA versus all of the top players from every other country. That speaks to how good basketball is in the USA. And the game is played in an NBA arena in the (Portland) Rose 2013 Nike Hoop Garden and they sell a lot of tickets. It's a big crowd, and that's Summit always something that has stuck out about the game to me, too.” 2012 U18 Gold Continue Reading ...
Catching Up With Duke Freshman Rasheed Sulaimon Prior to starting at Duke, Blue Devil freshman Rasheed Sulaimon played on a pair of USA teams in 2012 – the USA Junior National Select Team that participated in the Nike Hoop Summit and the USA U18 National Team that claimed gold at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Obviously, being coached by a Hall of Famer and two-time U.S. Olympic Team head coach Mike Krzyzewski, helps bring out the best in players, from incoming freshmen to perennial NBA All-Stars such as Kobe Bryant and 2012 U18 Gold Jason Kidd, but Sulaimon also readily admits he learned a lot from 2012 Nike Hoop the trio of USA U18 coaches. “We had three great coaches – Billy Donovan of Florida, Shaka Summit Smart of VCU and Mark Few of Gonzaga – three of the top coaches right now in college basketball,” he said. “So, I was like a sponge and tried to take as much as I could from them.” Continue Reading ...
Jarnell Stokes: Recalling Golden Memories Historically, USA U18 National Teams are comprised of rising college freshmen and high-school seniors. The gold-medal winnning 2012 USA U18 team, however, featured one athlete who already had 17 NCAA Division I games under his belt -- Jarnell Stokes. At USA try outs, Stokes quickly impressed everyone in the gym, and he was selected to the 12-member USA team. “I was shocked how much in Brazil the Brazilians loved us,” Stokes recalled. “I felt like after the game, they stripped us of practically all our clothes. I can remember me and Shaq Goodwin walking out with just shorts on when we left after the championship game. It was hard for us to say no to guys who cared that much about the USA. We take for granted the smallest things, like a USA Basketball shirt, but to them it meant the world.” Continue Reading ... 7
